In the game of life, there are players, and those who play for keeps. Trenton Stone is a player, at least that is how he sees himself. He is bold, audacious, suave, assured, and very confident about what he wants, needs and desires. He has made it a point to always get what he wants, and there is nothing he can’t do. Unfortunately, Trenton has slammed into a glass-brick wall by the name of Sydney Clark. He wants her badly, but Syd is not falling in with his plans for seduction. If he was a betting man, Trenton would never have believed he would find himself in such a position, but this is not what he is used to, and he doesn’t like it one bit. Trenton is a man who likes, no, NEEDS control, and that is exactly what Syd has wrested from his grasp. Suddenly he is on some very unfamiliar ground, and he is struggling to stay afloat in a sea of unfamiliar emotions…
Sydney Clark is not about to be played again. She has been there and done that, and had a real heartbreaking time as a result. When her business partner, best friend, and psychic, Abby, tells her some disturbing news, Syd nearly panics. The last thing she needs in her life is a man, and she lets Abby know in no uncertain terms. Then, while at the Psychic Fair, when the tall, dark, handsome stranger walks directly up to her at the hotel bar and introduces himself, Syd runs for cover. Back home, she feels safer, like she dodged a bullet until her dream man shows up again, this time on her doorstep. Now there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and she has to face the fact that Trenton Stone has chased her to ground, and decide how she feels about the matter. Oh he was and is very upfront about what he wants, he wants her, and only for a few nights. He’s made it painfully clear that’s all he wants from her and she can expect nothing else. However, there is something more going on between them. Syd feels torn, and pulled, and any number of other things when it come to Trenton Stone, and she instinctively knows he could hurt her worse than Ivan. That in and of itself was a disaster, and she is not about to fall into that trap again. Only the smug and knowing looks Abby make her think twice about risking it all again.
Kelley Nyrae brings to life two enchanting characters, strong willed and well matched, Sydney and Trenton will entice and cajole you into believing in love at first sight, and in the forces that drive one soul to find another. In The Emperor: Trenton’s Terms, Kelley brings together these two lost souls, neither realizing the other exists except for the turn o a card, and a spin on the Wheel of Life. Sydney soon learns that she will find her Emperor whether she wants him or not, and the prediction of the Lovers will be hers in spite of her denial. As to Trenton’s place in her life, Sydney will soon discover he is being driven by the same forces. Together they just might have a chance at the happiness they both deserve. Do Abby’s cards know more than Syd and Trenton? The answer could well be yes, but it will take some trust and some big concessions on both party’s part to reach a successful conclusion.
