The most succinct and briefest form of Murphy's law states that "if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong," and for Trina Sackett it seems to be in full force. Life is hard enough for Trina, she doesn't need Murphy to gum it up any worse. Oh she has a great job, a nice apartment, and a couple of good friends, but her love life had been greatly lacking lately, much to be desired. Of course it didn't help when she found men sent to her by non-existent aunts. more than once men had come to her saying that her Aunt Josie or her Aunt Fina has sent them, but Trina is just not buying the line. She has no Aunts let alone any named Josie and Fina. As far as that goes, the latest dude said he has been sent by her father, and she doesn't have one of those anymore either. Things in her life just keep getting more weird, and until she can figure things out, she would just rather stay home. What she isn't counting on is the determination of her ghostly great aunts to get her hooked up with a deserving man, and a vindictive ghost named Murphy who is determination to stop them.
Jarett Marlin is a man of leisure. he could live without working, some might call him rich. He preferred to keep busy, however, and he had a knack for fixing things, and loved managing apartments. This latest stop on his search for the perfect place had promise. He might be a new hire, but this place came with unbelievably wonderful perks for a man with Jarett's tastes. He could live in, and the apartment he was given had a seemingly well equipped kitchen and a lush private garden off his porch. With his wise investments, he was free from hassles, but found himself needing to work, to keep busy with the everyday accomplishment of things that brought him satisfaction. A well run and managed apartment complex filled the bill nicely, and with the exception of a relatively non-existent love life, he was well satisfied with life in general. Unfortunately for Jarett, things were about to change, and only time would tell if they were for the better...
Sometimes Murphy Wins is one of the sexiest, funniest, and most delightful things I have read in a very long time! There is nothing like a funny short to lift the spirits, and at only about 60 pages or so, this nifty quick read fills the bill nicely. I hope Cassidy McKay will do more in this vein, as they are just wonderful fast reads, that don't take forever to finish. Trouble is, this is just the "cat's meow" and it was so quick I had finished it before I realized it! I was just gonna skim it and get back to work, but I couldn't put it down. Thanks to Cassidy, Sometimes Murphy Wins really made my LONG HOT work night bearable! You will soon be able to get you hot little hands on a copy of Sometimes Murphy Wins through Mardi Gras Publishing. It will be released August 1st, so don't forget.
