Daria Wyatt was not comfortable in high school. Too smart for her own good, and not pretty enough to have her classmates overlook the shortcomings of braces and smarts, she was ridiculed, put down, and made literally and figuratively miserable by their random and careless cruelty. It was not fun being smart, and unpopular, and the experience left nasty scars on her heart, and on her psyche. She never wanted to revisit those miserable days in her life ever again, and has assiduously avoided any type of function where she would have even a hope of running into any of those people from her past. She has managed that admirably too, until now. She never should have let her younger sister Kara talk her into going to her High School Reunion. It didn’t matter the reason she was home, the reunion wasn’t on her agenda. She had no room in her planner for the pain and self-inflicted agony which could only be the result of such a foray into her past. Unlike Daria, her younger sister Kara would never be able to understand the turmoil her insistence caused. Yes, Daria has a mind of her own, but could people have changed as much as Kara said? Her first few steps inside the doors confirmed her worst fears. Nope, this was certainly sixty-five dollars wasted for sure. Kara the popular darling of her class was SO wrong. The bitches in Daria’s class were STILL BITCHES, and Daria isn’t staying to be dragged over the coals ever again…

Greg McCauley couldn’t believe his eyes or his luck when he saw the gorgeous brunette sitting alone in the dark. Never had he been as bewitched by a woman until the one who had left him cold, like Cinderella left Prince Charming. There was definitely something familiar there, and its something he didn’t want to let go of then. Or now. The hair, dark, silky smooth, and falling past her shoulders was conservatively but stylishly cut. The dress hugged her figure to perfection, and the crazy shoes drew attention to those long, long legs that made the journey to heaven. If all the physical attributes weren’t enough, the lady was smart as a whip, and it turned him on almost to the point of desperation. The charged atmosphere centered on her nagged at him, the fake name recognized from “Seinfeld” episodes Greg never missed unless necessary. Yup, he had it bad, and Greg McCauley hadn’t had it this bad for a woman since Margot Campbell. Oh she had wanted him, but only for what she could get from him, the house, money, car, jewelry, and although she rolled his heart pretty badly, and he was still running scared, he is determined he will never fall for a gold digging piece of trash again. The problem with that theory is he might have just done that very thing all over again with his mystery woman of the long legs and the funky shoes…

She’s Got Legs by Amanda Brice is a kicky little short to make you smile. A mixture of Cinderella and the Ugly Duckling, Amanda has taken the reader back to a time that only a few might recognize. The memories are painful, but in Daria’s case, the outcome could be sweet and very rewarding. When the ugly duckling turns into a swan, one never knows what the dynamics and the possibilities truly are, and when Prince Charming is determined to track down and capture Cinderella, she really doesn’t have a snowball’s chance…well, you get my drift! Daria is not really prepared for her dreams to come true, and panics at the thought as must as the thought of her “borrowed” clothes she ruthlessly raided from her sister’s closet. Her common sense tells her to go, her desire wanted her to stay. For Greg’s part, he is stunned by the mysterious leggy beauty whose presence sent shockwaves through him, shaking him to his core. He felt the electricity around her, and he wants to feel it again, and again. Something deep inside told him this woman would not be as cold, as calculating, as hard as Margo, but common sense and the hurt he endured urged him to caution. So who wins? Greg’s conscience or his heart? Daria’s desire or her common sense. So if you want a delightfully quick and sassy read, She’s Got Legs is a book you want to grab and enjoy. It is available now from Freya’s Bower, and for those of you who enjoy the quick and flirty short reads, this one is just what the doctor ordered. Gosh, I hope Amanda has plans for more shorts like She’s Got Legs, and some maybe longer!

Yours in good reading,
