He was impressive, brooding and beyond intimidating, intriguing, as well as the standard tall, dark. And oh so very handsome, and he was heading her way. It was not the best way to be caught, especially the way Lori’s mind had been roaming lately, however, the embodiment of every woman’s wet dream looked as though he was actually heading her way, and for a split second, she wondered who he was looking for in this mass of humanity. All too soon he was standing in front of her, one dark brow cocked as if he could read her every thought, but no, that was simply ridiculous. She was far from the ravishing beauties in attendance here. The party was upscale, but the man in front of Lori Fontaine was casually underdressed, his pristine t-shirt hugging his massive frame as though it were applied with paint, the delineation of his musculature vivid beneath. The voice was a sinful delight, and the true shock came when Lori realized that the man who had just taken her hand, was the guest of honour at this overdone and tedious soiree. This man had the best of the world’s women clawing their way to get his notice, and a reputation that belied the look in his eye. He was reputed to be a great lover, a talent in the world on erotic sculpture as well as of erotic conquest, and the dream of almost every woman who ventured into his sphere. Gideon was no angel, one look at his art would tell you that. The blatant eroticism of it was clear, the lines clean, and the women beautiful in their ecstasy. Too bad she wasn’t one of them...or was she?
Neither Lori nor Gideon was expecting the events resulting from the evening, and the Fates probably danced gleefully, cheered at the odd pairing. But for Lori, the day was getting interesting, the fun was the first she had in a long time, and truly, she felt out of place at the richly appointed party hall, and yet again, but this time overdressed in the bar. The thing about the whole situation was her comfort rested no in the surroundings this time, but in the man, and the aura he projected. She was truly having more fun than when her best friend Margaret conned her into the party for the sculptor, the very man who now sat beside her, the one taking her home. But Gideon had big plans for her, and when Lori agrees to pose for him, Gideon can’t wait to get her back to his home, to his studio, and although he was telling her the truth about the sculpture he wanted to do, he was also thrilled she consented, because had many more plans for her, ones that included her place in his bed, permanently. The Emperor: Secrets Bared is a book that cries out for your attention, it has a theme that entices, characters that enthrall, and when push comes to shove, Lori finds that Gideon may want her body, but he will also do whatever it takes to keep her safe from harm, his friends, and from any outside dangers, like her overbearing and rather stupid ex-fiancé. It is the story of a special man, a special longing, and a woman who fits him like no other, and I hope it is the first of many more like it from Ms Anne Rainey. The Emperor: Secrets Bared, from the Tease Publishing’s Tarot Collection is a read you don’t want to miss if you enjoy that touch of the erotic, the flavour of decadent writing, and a tale to make you want more.
