There are times in one's life when things are not just as they seem. Lady Julia Wentworth was definitely NOT on the shelf, after all, she just had her first Season in town. She was looking forward to her second, but she really wanted love to be a part of it all. In a time when most married for position and played power games, Julia had choice. However, that did not stop the unwanted attentions. Even being the sister of John Townley, Baron Wentworth, did not stop Mr. Henry Price, a suitor for whom she had not a shred of regard let alone any tender feelings. He was an anathema to her, rude, boorish, pushy beyond the pale, and always threatening. He thought she should want his attentions, and he was rich and powerful, a fact she hadn't fully understood till it was too late. Her brother gave her the freedom of choosing her own husband, and time and time again she has rebuffed Mr. Price, and this apparently has led to her current dilemma. Now she has to hope the man who has intruded on her solitude and misery can be the one to free her.
Sara Freeze has concocted a delightful tale of lust, danger, magic, and matchmaking. She leaves several gaps in the story at strategic places that leave you wondering about things, and hoping you will find the reasons for them further in the story. She ties them all up in the end with a huge surprise, and I must say, she has given me 27 pages of quick, and delightful reading. Justin and Julia are helped along by Justin's Aunt Harriet Dobbs, and although we don't exactly know the circumstances of her involvement in this affaire d'cour, it is not that important. The focus is on Justin and Julia where it should be, and the story will indeed surprise you. A Seaside Enchantment is a quick delight, and one you will read again for certain.
