Nicole wasn’t lazy, she wasn’t stupid, but she just couldn’t figure out why Mrs. Marco seemed to hate her so badly. She is a hard worker, trying very hard to handle all of Mrs. Marco’s demands, but one of these days she is just going to let go. Well, one of these days she will see. One of these days Nicole will leave, and then where will Mrs. Marco be? Then she will have to find someone else for her son Steve to come on to, for her to boss around and treat like a slave. If a huge sigh would help, Nicole would be giving a lot of them, but relief is not in sight. It really doesn’t help she dreams of Mrs. Marco’s younger son, David. He is the antithesis of his older brother. Where Steve Marco is all hands and come-ons, David is a gentleman. Where Steve chases every woman in the store, David holds himself aloof, and although he is the personification of a geek, there is something innately sexy about him in Nicole’s eyes…
David Marco has been watching the girl since Steve hired her. She attracts him like no other woman has before, and she isn’t ready to fall into Steve’s “I’m the boss so you can sleep with me and maybe I’ll favour you,” patter either. She doesn’t seem to care much for him, avoids him like the plague, and for that he has to admire her, because his brother IS persistent, and it seems to David, Nicole thinks annoyingly so. His mother rides herd on her pretty hard too, and it puzzles him to no end. She is a good worker, doesn’t need to be told twice what or how to do something, and more often than not will take initiative and have a job done before his mother can holler about getting it done. She is polite, has a dry wit, a pleasant manner, and has never spoken a bad word about anyone. She is human enough, and her face is expressive enough he has noticed the anger, disappointment, and irritation there when his mother is around, or when Steve shows up. David decided long ago to show her a bit of the respect she doesn’t seem to get from the rest of the family, but there is more there too, a longing to give her anything she desires. If it were up to David, he would lay himself at her feet. Yup, he has it bad. Love is not what he was looking for, but he can only guess it found him instead, and he will make his move when the time is right. Of course tonight is the Christmas party, and his dad has something special up his sleeve. Just what, David doesn’t know exactly, but he is aware of the expansion plans. Tonight may just bring a lot of things to a head…
Yvette Hines has set up the right amount of tension, lust, and erotic fancy to make Santa’s Helper a hit in the short books market. Nicole has suffered through a lot working for the Marcos. Christmas is here, and she is stuffed into an elf’s costume which is darn near too small, working not only at the store, but enlisted to help at the Marco’s Christmas party as well. To her, it seems as though she will never get away, never get to her dreams of David Marco, the middle son. Dressed as Santa, and walking into the room where his mother has the tree and wants the presents, he sees a sight luscious enough to make his eyes pop out. Leaning over, with her butt in the air is Nicole, and it is an invitation he is loathe to turn down, but must. He is not sure how she feels about him, nor how she would react to his advances. The night has a ways to go yet, and when his father makes the expansion announcement, he will take things from there, maybe. He wants Nicole badly, but not at the expense of losing her forever. Fate has another idea, and a dead battery, and a trip to Nicole’s apartment soon have the action on the road to hot!
