Mina is bored with her job, hurt at her husband's indifference to her needs both sexually and emotionally. Things have gotten so bad between them the only recourse is divorce. The website she finds will help, she hopes as it offers anonymity and safety behind the computer screen. Mina knows that stalkers can lurk anywhere, but she doesn't plan on being a victim for anyone. She also knows what will fulfill her, and this time, she is setting out specifically to take care of herself first. Mina has only one really good friend to confide in, and when he just laughs and hangs up on her after she gets her first email, she doesn't know quite how to handle the situation.
The situation could be dangerous, it is not something recommended for a meet, but Mina goes anyway. To meet someone publicly, in a very public and open place is the best course of action in such cases. What happens to her at her ill-advised action is a surprise, but is it a bad one or a good one? And how will things end for Mina when all is said and done?
This is, of course, a very short story, and it is a satisfying one for the amount of time it took to write it. The author has talent, and it shines in short works like Repossession by Elise Hepner. I very much enjoyed it, however, there are several things I wish about it.
1) the story was longer
Ms Hepner is a good storyteller, and I was wishing it was longer and a bit fuller.
2) the story was written in third person
I truly hate stories written in first person. They lack a depth that comes with a fuller range of view you get when reading from a third person account. There is often more detail, the kind you can't get from just the ego-centric POV.
3) I wanted more about her friend, and the soon-to-be-ex
This would have added more dimension to the tale.
I did not get any of these, but that being said, the story was a delightful fast read that those who enjoy this sort of quick fling, will certainly enjoy. I know I look forward to hearing more from Ms Hepner, and I shall most likely be reading Repossession again and again.
