It was no less than a face off. The meeting of adversaries in the dank sewer tunnels, but Wing knew it was her only chance to find out who was chasing her, and why. Oh she had an idea that the one pursuing her wanted her dead, but it was the why that truly bothered her. She needed to be above ground, she had trouble to track, and fighting for her life here was losing her valuable time. Yes, Wing knew the longer she stayed down in these tunnels, the better chance the real villain would get away, but she needed to get this settled before she could move on. There were more loves at stake here than her own, and she was going to get free of this impediment as soon as possible. The fact that she wasn't human couldn't have anything to do with it, but then one never knew about those things. She was a Guardian, a portal protector, and the last thing she needed was to be hampered by a Demon Hunter. There was nothing she was sure of except that the one following her probably was not a government agent, most of them knew her or of her, so it meant he was from a private concern, and it was or could be a huge problem for her if she couldn't talk some sense into him...
He was tall, dark and handsome, and his code name was Stallion. It was not the best, but it was what he had been saddled with, so he put up with it for now. The demon he was hunting was strange, the fact she turned around to speak with him startled him more than he was willing to admit, until he got a good look at her. She was a beauty, even with the red eyes and the tail. She was also a talented fighter, and had given him his share of lumps and bruises in the past few days. It was a shame he was gonna have to destroy her, because Stallion was sure she started the fire that killed two children, and caused their parents a boatload of headaches, and a world of heartache from which they might never recover. His job was to be alert, to hunt down the demons and otherworldly monsters and protect the ordinary citizens. Too bad she was one of them...or was she?
Two unlikely heroes searching for the same thing are the keynote of the book, The Draconis and the Stallion by Laura Elliott. This short is sassy, sexy, and draws together two very different people to unite in an attempt to stop an arsonist. Who knew what such a partnership would bring, and it is a sure bet that no one expected these two to find a common ground so quickly. Regardless of the barriers and problems to overcome, Wing (Annie Thompson) and Stallion (Will Bateman) are going to become a lot more than associates. This is a short easy read that is packed full of action, intrigue, and exciting characters. I hope we will be hearing more from Laura in the future, meanwhile, look for The Draconis and the Stallion from Eternal Press, then pick up a copy today.
Yours in good reading,
Rose!
