Look what happened to Job, well, he lost that bet, but still, he could play as long as he didn't put the soul in danger, and he found a perfect plaything in Rick. He loved his job, his school, and his lover, so what better leverage to use if you wanted ot instill a little corruption, to "widen the man's horizons" while relieving his and some of his friend's bordom. He was all about threat and innuendo, coersion at its finest, and he had to use it all to get this one to cooperate. What fun!
The Devil Made Me Do It is a snappy quick read that is filled with erotic imagery, delightful whimsy, and yet makes you feel for the character. Jaxx Steele has a way with a story, bringing out the main characters personality, likes, dislikes, as well as the innate honour they possess. I like the way Jaxx constructs his characters, ones you can identify with as being real, and being strong is always a plus. For this to work, Jaxx had to make choices about place, time, and actions, and he made all the right ones. Rick will do anything to protect those he loves, and that sense of loyalty is what Lucifer is banking on in order to bend Rick to his will. Can he do it, or can Rick resist?
