Danica Banks is a very curious young girl. She enjoys observing the huge oak tree that is very visible from her bedroom. What is even more noticeable is the boy that is in the tree that continues to cast his gaze her way, and Danica is very much aware of his wandering eye. Of course her Grammy Banks doesn’t believe that Danica, whom she refers to as Poppet, should be making any eye contact with the boy in the tree. As the years pass before her, she becomes older as well as the young boy in the tree but when he seems to disappear for a length of time, she starts seeing Robby from school, who is not only Cajun but sexy.
Ethan is intrigued by Danica as well she him, too, but it is against her Grammy’s wish that the two ever see each other. He waits until it is the right time to approach Danica then he will make his real presence known. He knows Danica will not be frightened by him and he hopes that she will seek to be with him always. In the meantime he never lets his roving eyes leave her path.
Danica has never felt this sensation about anyone the way she feels toward Ethan. It is an experience that she doesn’t ever wish to lose sight of but she cannot understand why her Gram doesn’t wish her to be with Ethan. After Danica gets older, she decides to go against her Gram’s recommendation, and secretly begins seeing Ethan. She also, continues to see Robby on the side, but it is nothing in comparison to being with Ethan. With the approaching of the Harvest Ball, Ethan informs that he cannot go with her to the ball, but she should go with Robby. Of course there is one condition and she must prove to him that he is indeed the only man she loves. But the night of the Harvest Ball, Danica has a huge decision when she must prove to Ethan her loyalties and love, or cause a betrayal that will be most devastating.
Hmm, curiosity killed the cat, and Blood on the Harvest Moon definitely shows how one young girl got her attention piqued. What young girl, when told by someone not to do something is going to turn around and do the opposite? Danica is no different but the way her story goes with the boy in the oak tree was quite charming. Obsession, intrigue, passion and betrayal make this one alluring story. The reader can almost feel the ache Danica experiences to be with the boy in the tree as years pass before her. It is a growing curiosity that only grows stronger with each passing day. The temptation is so strong to reach out and touch but the obstruction is there but once the barrier is broken, it becomes a heated blaze.
Stella and Audra Price deliver a wonderful tale that almost makes the hairs rise on the back of the neck. They pen a cleverly composed story that keeps the reader guessing all the way to the end. With a touch of mystery, and charm, the characters pull in the reader like a trance. Ethan is charismatic in every sense and for a moment it was as if his eyes were gazing from the pages. Stella and Audra Price have created impressible characters, even with Robby and Grammy that stick with the reader. The ambience of the story, along with an ending that I never expected, made this one exceptional read by far. When the author makes me feel something for the characters that spins one great story in my book! Don’t miss these ladies, they are two great authors to look out for and Blood on the Harvest Moon is one superb read that shouldn’t be missed.
