He doesn't look forward to courting or marrying a village girl, although there are several who would do almost anything to get Ian's notice. He thinks only of Eyrin, has since he was first called and allowed to go to the lair. He looked not on the experience with joy and anticipation, but only as a duty, and was glad only because his gift would go to one who was once of their village. There have only a few times when he could not give his wrist to Eyrin, and the experience was not as fulfilling. Ian knows that in his heart there is room for only one, only Eyrin...
Kallysten treats us to a delightful tale about a forbidden love. Eyrin is a vampire whose Sire has told her vampires don't love, they don't have the feelings for it, but she is not sure she believes. She is familiar with love, but only as it refers to humans, but still similar feelings persist in her when it comes to Ian. Ian seeks her out when he appears in the Lair, and always makes time for her, to talk, to share his experiences, and brings her gifts. The simple truth is he loves her, and although she has discouraged it, Ian will not relent. For more than five years he has been constant in his attentions, seeking out only her and disappointed if she fed before he got there. Now things will come to a head, and Eyrin and Ian must make a decision, will they continue together, or will fate pull them apart? All Things Except Blood is another great quick read from Kallysten, and it is available now from Alinar Publishing. For those of you who love paranormal romances, this is one that definitely satisfies the longing for a quick yet deliciously fulfilling story.
