Welcome to the world of the Working Man, and welcome to the erotic world of Author J. M. Snyder. Known for her homo-erotic writing, Ms Snyder is an author you won't want to miss if you enjoy the erotic games in the often male dominated workplace. Below are some glimpses into that world from her point of view as embodied in the short tales in her Working Man Series of books from Aspen Mountain Press. Here is a glimpse of the five books so far in the series.

Easily Addicted:

It was a chance meeting, Trevor Pritchett met Zack Jackson while taking a smoke on his lunch break. It was a nasty habit, and one he was trying to break. He was also not sure whom he was meeting in the rather bold and brash young man either, but when Zack made a pass, he was uncomfortable. He ran. Yes, he used the excuse to get back to work, but still, he ran from the encounter. He had to admit it, he might not be ready to move on with Nathan gone from his life. He is still suffering from Nathan's betrayal, and finding trust for anyone hard to come by. If there is one thing for certain, Trevor is not looking for another lover, not a younger one who might be only too willing to leave as Nathan did what seemed to be only a short time past.

The only truly bad part of the encounter, whether a pass was made or not, was the memory of himself acting like a total ass. If he were to be truthful, he wanted to at least apologise to Zack for his boorish behavior. Trouble was that no matter where or how hard he looked, Trevor couldn't find Zack in any of the company directories. The last name, Jackson, struck a chord though because it was the same as the CEO's, Mike Jackson. Not even there under Mike's name was tehre any hint, of a relationship. No sign of him, not a place was Zack listed, and unbidden disappointment rode Trevor hard. He did, however, make up his mind, if the opportunity arose to see Zack again, he would.

Zack Jackson is exuberant, filled with the joy of youth, and yet not knowing exactly where he stands in life's circle. That doesn't stop him, and even if he seems to be over-confident, it is an endearing quality. He approaches Trevor with gusto, and though he knows it can be intimidating, he wants to get to know this man with a passion. He is a conundrum, and Zack wants to solve the puzzle, and maybe even start a relationship, one he has been searching for since his first fling.

Zack felt uncomfortable in his father's company, felt like he was only there as a decoration, and although he did work, the majority of his time was spent reading, or in other pursuits like computer games, and other such activities. Trevor was an enigma, and a red head, and both were attractive to Zack. So much so, that he tried another ploy to get Trevor for fall in line with his plans. He realized Trevor was fighing attraction, why he was not certain, but no one can say Zack is not tenacious when he sees someone or something he wants, and he feels he can become easily addicted to Trevor if given half a chance...

Summer Kisses and Ice Cream Dreams

It is summertime, and Sean had taken a job in an ice cream parlor on the board walk. He knows the town, its people, and even so, the new face that appears nearly floors him. He feels an instant attraction, and that is not lost on Tony and his friends. Jealousy springs to life. Sean figures that Andrew and Lori are going together, he never figures them as being only friends. It is one thing to want someone, but it is another thing to want them so bad it hurts.

Sean is not prepared fot that, and as the days go by, he finds himslef searching the faces he passes, and the ones who come into the shop for another glance at the one he might take a chance on having a summer fling with, if he can work up the nerve. He is tired of the temporary "loves of summer," but that seems to be all there is for him. Even though he has sworn off the brief summer affaires, there is something about Andrew that catches his eye, and his heart. He only hopes the feelings are returned, and when Lori shows up at the Ice Cream Shoppe with a telephone number left for him, Sean knows it is going to be impossible to resist this temptation.

The last thing Andrew expecting was to visit Tony for the summer and find love, but even if it is just temporary, it is something he decides to pursue. From the moment he sets eyes on Sean behing the counter at the Ice Cream Shoppe, he knows this summer is going to be something special, especially if Sean falls in with his plans. He knows the attraction is there, he also knows it is mutual. Making sure Sean got the telephone number is only the first step. Shyness is not the only attribute Sean has, and the fact he called, then hung up only spurs Andrew on. Possibilities, that is what summers are all about, and Andrew is going to pursue all of them with Sean he hopes.

Makin' Copies

It is a fact that at Christmas parties things can get out of hand, and in the case of an employee of Mike Sanford's, the copies made at the office Christmas party are intriguing. Being a man of uncertain temper, he knows he will not be disappointed with interruptions, but he has to handle this correctly, or it could be trouble. The problem is the copies made were explicit, the preferences of the owner of the equipment copied are unknown. The question is, can he use the proper amount of intimidation, tact, and lust to get across his message without dire consequences.

The last thing he needs is a lawsuit for sexual harrassment, so when Mike bellows out his office door for Johnson, all those privy to the misdeed think it is surely the end. The rest of the office staff are convinced it is a summons that will be followed by a pink slip and a final goodbye. Right now, Johnson is probably wishing that photocopier never existed, but if what Mike has is real, Johnson may be wising for something else.

When his cantankerous boss hollers for him to come to his office, the snickers, sad looks, goodbyes, and the well-wishes from the staff have Johnson wondering if it is true. He is wondering if the prank has reaced the boss, and if, just days before Christmas, he is going to get canned. He was not totally drunk out of his mind, but just dizzy enough to do something really dumb, and he guesses he will be paying the piper for it now. What he doesn't expect are the questions, the interrogation, and the reaction...

Pleasure Cruise

Andy Helman’s first cruise was going to be two weeks spent cruising Caribbean waters and hopping the Virgin Islands with his roommate Reese Thompson and his friend Palmer Ward. They had invited Andy along, because according to Palmer, going to the beach for spring break was for underclassmen, seniors went cruising. So off they go, and Andy finds himself stuck on a ship with Reese and Palmer, both of whom have seemingly decided to cramp his style. There are not many singles on this cruise, and Andy greatly despairs of meeting anyone until he sets his eyes on Carlos while in the lounge.

With the idea that if he can't find anyone, neither will Reese or Andy, Palmer sets out to ruin Andy's chances with Carlos and does a darn good job. Andy is miffed, and decides that if Palmer is going to play those games, he ans Reese must not want his company very badly, so he decides to spend his time catching up on rest, and turns down Reese, even when he begs Andy to join him and Palmer on an excursion ashore at their first port of call. No amount of apology will change his mind, and Andy resigns himslef to spending a day reading, resting, and then maybe he will go find something else to do.

For Andy, the cruise will seem unending and boring if he can't find someone to share it with, someone with whom he can spend some quality time, some intimate moments. Ah well, he has ordered room service, and just maybe he will have some luck later...

Opening Day at the County Fair

Little sisters can be a pain in the neck, especially when they have ideas set in thier heads. Oh they can be sweet and cajoling when they wish, but too often Jesse's sister believed the world revolved around her, and for all Jesse knew, she could have been right. Their Pa had no respect for anything Jesse did, and the "I'll tell Pa," Jolene was so proud was was really wearing thin. One of these days, she would understand, and one of these days maybe he would get an apology. But there were a good eight years between them, and Jesse knew he might never see the day. For now, she was a child, selfish in the way of children, and thinking only of the present, and the fair.

The county fair was the biggest thing all summer, and jesse dreads what used to be almost like a second Christmas. The long hot days bother him, and looking forward to having Jolene underfoot, and having to watch out for her while sellling the produce from the farm garden, is not what Jesse wants. He has dreams, but so much of his life is put on hold because of the farm, his Pa, and the rural life.

Davis is another story all together, and Jesse is drawn to him. He wishes he would have let uncle Gary talk him into working for his friend Ruddy Johnson for the summer, especially when he finds out Davis is Ruddy's son. They are about the same age, and Davis is someone Jesse feels he would like to know a lot better.

There is a world outside of the typical heterosexual romance that so many of us enjoy, but then there is what many would consider "forbidden" or "pornographic." Well, let me assure you that homosexual people love too, and J. M. Snyder has brought to light stories that are sometimes fanciful, futuristic, sometimes too real, but mostly wonderfully crafted stories of love between two people who really do have feelings for one another. On the odd occassion it could be just sex, but only as a prelude to something more. Sometimes she lets is see into the characters, sometimes she teases.

The beauty of her stories is that she doesn't judge, sermonize, or pontificate. She just tells it like it is, and takes the reader for an erotic look into the world of love as seen by men, about men, and towards men. As they are creatures of feeling, even though they are not as good at showing it as women, it shrouds their affaires in mystery and in a mystique that Ms Snyder shows her light on, and allows us a peek into the intimate world of men's emotions, thoughts, and yes, even some of thier dreams.

Yours in good reading,

Rose!
