Dora Morten has been abused by her husband for many months. Left for dead below White Canyon, she prays for death. She is tired of suffering and no longer wishes to live. The tormenting pain is more than she can bear while lying at the bottom of the canyon. It has been told that the mists of the White Canyon swallow trespassers never allowing them to leave. So with each breath, she prays that her suffering will be quick.

Dora believes she sees angel then moments later she spies a cougar then a man that happens to be an Indian healer by the name of Tomka who carries her to his home. In time she begins to feel something for Tomka after he starts taking care of her. If she could be with him, she would jump at the chance but she is not free from her ogre husband. Her heart feels strong toward Tomka, but inside she feels much guilt, too. She still is not free from her violent husband.

Tomka happens to come upon Dora in her distress. He is a native healer and refuses to leave her alone to die. Knowing that she will be warm and dry at his home, he decides to take her there to die more comfortably, if it is still her wish to die. Her body is in such bad shape that he hopes he has not arrived too late. He plans to help heal her body and mind so she will wish to live.

When Tomka arrives at his home, he begins to treat Dora’s injuries. There is something about her that draws her to him. He lost his mate when a plague killed almost all of the tribe. The guilt had been most painful. Now with the presence of Dora he feels a link in some way that he only hopes will be beneficial. Perhaps if he can help Dora, some of the fault he feels for the loss of his mate will soon wash away. He is the tribe’s only healer and he must find someone and have a child before the others in the tribe can mate. With Dora he feels like he has found that one person to make everything right.

Dora has been left for dead by her obnoxious husband. She can only hope that her death will be soon and she will be free from all the abuse her husband afflicted upon her. In the midst of the pain, she sees what appears to be an angel. But what she thought was an angel turns out to be a healer. Tomka is a healer with an Indian tribe. When he finds her, she is bleeding and her body severely maimed. He intends on healing her inside and out. Sure that her physical scars are not the only pain she holds, he tries to heal her spirit, as well. Unfortunately, the tribe expects Tomka to produce an heir. They will allow Dora to stay on if she can find her fate within the midst. Now torn and trying to regain her strength, Dora must find enough bravery to keep Tomka by her side while ensuring the tribe she is not a threat. The guilt that they both have shared is great enough to bind their love even stronger if they can only be given a chance and forget about their dreaded past.

Within the Mist is a most enjoyable read. It is a page-turner from the beginning to the end. The characters are so convincing that the reader feels so close to each of them. The mist within the canyon engulfs the reader and doesn’t let go. One can practically feel everything surrounding the mist and canyon. Tomka was the perfect gentleman all through the book and he reflects a strong man with a heart of gold. I hated what Dora had been through with her husband but Tomka had a way of sealing that heartache and allowing her to feel what real love and strength was with the right person. The ingenious thoughts, the tender love scenes and the reactions between Dora and Tomka are amazing. Compassionate, moving, tear-jerking and heart tugging, this book is AWESOME!

Ms. Granger pens a brilliant book. Her writing is intense, captivating and the book is remarkably well-written. She instills secondary characters with customs and languages that blend in to make the book a further great read. She has done an in-depth story of incredible love and devotion that will not be forgotten by readers. The story of Tomka and Dora is poignant the way they have suffered pain and grown to aid each other in mending their hearts. It is a romance that Ms. Granger created with grace and much caring. This is my first book by Ms. Granger and it definitely promises not to be my last. She has taken two wonderful characters and generated a beautiful romance that really stands out. This is a book that I highly recommend! To get a copy of this extraordinary book, visit Romance At heart Publications, today. You won’t be disappointed.
