When she learns about some secrets about Raphael, she wonders if she will ever be able to live with her new discovery.Florencia is happy to be returning to California. She has missed the man she loves and is eager to be reunited with him again. Luis is the man to whom she wishes to spend her life with always. Pilar wishes that she could be as enthusiastic as her sister, but when she left, thoughts of being married to Rafael didn’t sit too well with her. It may have been written in stone that they were to marry from their birth, but that didn’t mean she had to like the terrible boy who had treated her as if he was a dictator. She didn’t care for any future husband who would disregard her so lowly. After Pilar arrives back in California, and embarks from the ship, she is surprised with the new Rafael, who has grown into an incredible handsome man. Raphael Ortega grew up with Pilar, and even though he was not keen on the idea of not being able to choose his own wife, after learning that Pilar will be his wife, he intends to be with her always. He loves her and wishes to spend time with her forever. They have an arranged marriage but when she took off two years ago, he waited for her return. Now after a two-year absence he is glad for her return but is unwilling to encircle their arranged marriage. But beholding her after two years, his heart knows he wants her more than anything. He has a secret life that may keep them apart always. The marriage may have been prearranged but after seeing a lovely woman at a dance, everything changed in one night when he realized it was Pilar.
Since their birth, Rafael and Pilar’s marriage has been planned. Pilar would do anything differently but it has been destined for her to marry Rafael. With their lineage they can produce children within the Ortega and Duran ancestors. Neither wishes to engage in the arrangement but they have no choice. After a two year separation they learn that things have changed for the better. After the boat docks and the sisters disembark from the ship, they learn after they leave the dock and head to the families’ ranchos, that a clever thief has been prowling the countryside and they cannot risk staying in town. The mysterious thief takes from the rich and gives to the less fortunate. There is a bigger thief that Pilar is soon to discover when it comes to Rafael and the emotions on her heart. And as the days pass between them she soon learns that the thief of hearts is closer than she imagines. To top matters, not only does their heart seem to create a flaming heat between the two, but they are faced with a nagging aunt as a chaperone, while a dark figure of a thief runs loose that has everyone jumping. Even with the things that surround them, Pilar and Raphael plan to work out all the obstacles set before them.
Thief of Hearts is a most delightful read. The storyline with Pilar and Raphael is wonderfully written. The passion they share for each other flames as their love blossoms each time they are together. The secondary characters add their own element to the story to make it flow smoothly. Even Aunt Beatriz is wonderfully crafted and blends some great wit to the tale. The whole ambience made everything a great entertaining read. This reader could almost visualize the countryside and the thief riding along.
Caitlyn Willows has once again created a sharp, fun, exciting story that keeps the reader interested. I like the way she fashioned the tale around the Zorro character with just a little stimulating twist. She adds some passion along with a little seduction that practically steams the pages. This reader could feel Pilar and Raphael’s chemistry the moment they are together. I like the little addition of the spicy life of Raphael. If you wish a bit of spice, zest, romance and little embers that practically melt the pages, then Thief of Hearts is the book. The pizzazz of the whole tale is electrifying.
