Samantha desperately wanted Sion Baptiste in her life but becoming a vampire was not part of the deal after the werewolf attack. Her occupation managed to get her in hot water. With only a short amount of time to locate the werewolf who infected her, she must rush before her entire life falls in jeopardy. The prediction is she is to be the new queen and bring peace to the world. Yet the monster that created her instilled a deeper panic in her as she clashes amid affection and animosity for the mastermind that molded her into what she has become.
Sion Baptiste is a Master Vampire who appears to have strong feelings for Samantha. He confronts her and explains to her how the Lycans have been killing vampires and humans alike and must be stopped. Sion goes on to explain how he needs her help and what is expected of her if she chooses to accept the challenge. Since a werewolf has infected her they are on its trail to locate him.
Sion warns her that after drinking of the blood, her powers will become strong. He gives her books that inform her about the Lycans, the ones to fear the most and hate. He also tells her that in time she will become the most powerful of the vampires. He even explains how diabetics are favored with the vampires because they hold a high glucose level. With the help of his brother, Sevastian, they realize that Samantha is part of a prophecy that can come to the aid of the Lycans against the vampires, and together they will do what is superfluous to keep the tradition alive no matter what the cost.
A Lycan attack has altered Samantha’s life and left her with a rude awakening not only with the Lycans but the vampires. She is experiencing much trouble of late after being smitten with a gorgeous hunk by the name of Sion. After being corrupted by a werewolf, it led her to becoming a target to others that can lead to her destruction. She is not too happy with her new lifestyle and having to adapt is not an easy task. She must find a way to end the danger in her life even if it means drinking another’s blood. But there is one other at stake and that is her vampire elder and the one she loves Sion. She faces a hard decision as her anger slowly mounts after learning more about the vampire prophecies. When she suddenly feels betrayed she soon fears not only the Lycans but also Sion, as everyone seems to want to use her abilities to gain control of what they covet most. No matter how much she loves Sion, she is determined to not let anything block her from finding the truth.
The Wolves Den is truly entertaining. I loved the setting of New Orleans as it gives more of an authentic setting to the story. Samantha is a tough character yet exhibits the female characteristic of being a tender woman when it comes to falling in love. Of course she just happened to fall for a vampire that really changed her destiny. Samantha and Sion set a nice path with their struggles and there is a sort of connection that he feels for her in the book. It is a great read that spins an incredible tale.
Ms. Gray has created a great novel about the strength of one woman that comes to power almost overnight to fight almost every mammoth impediment that crosses her passage. With intense writing, she pens scenes so vivid with edge of your seat excitement that keeps the pages turning. This book absolutely enthralls the reader until the ending as Ms. Gray makes the reader feel as if they are mixed in with all the characters. The Wolves Den is a wonderfully written book that is absolutely awesome! Now I have to read more of Sion and Samantha and what will happen in their journey.
