It takes you into that psychotic eye, like the eye of the tornado that you can’t really touch or feel, yet you get a bird’s eye view of everything. It is a mysterious story that is not only murky and full of shadows but surrounds a couple where one is the marauder and the other the unsuspecting victim. But the great revelation involving the story is how the plot switches with the roles of the two characters. We see a Susan that falls prey to a manipulating man and has the reader wondering if she gets back at Jerry for everything that he has inflicted on her. The author leaves it up to the reader to decide how the story turns out. Oh the taste of adorable retribution is an added plus in this fabulous read.
Bittersweet Memory by J. M. Cornwell
Lila is a single mother that raises three boys on her own with no help from their father. All she can think about is her miserable marriage. When she decides to make some of her luscious brownies her mind is so full of thoughts that she adds just a touch of something to make sure the brownies will be the last sweets that her husband ever tastes from her.
Bittersweet Memory is a clever title for this concoction of delectable sweets. Lila is a great character that only wants what any other happy housewife has and striking back at her ex-husband is sheer joy for her. Even though the reader doesn’t get to see what special result the scrumptious brownies have on Lila’s ex-husband, the story itself administers great gratification.
Bedridden by Laura Bacchi
The best rule of thumb is never leave a woman scorned unless you wish to suffer severe consequences. Chelsea is one woman that has been ridiculed in a way she doesn’t approve. When her ex-boyfriend, Todd, cheats on her with her best friend, she decides to strike back in her own way. He should have had the courtesy not to get caught if he’s going to cheat, but everyone knows where a man does his thinking. What better way but enter his hospital room and offer up a bit of retaliation to sweeten the pot and pay him back for the heartache he caused her. She would teach him to scorn a woman.
Bedridden is not your usual revenge story. Dear Chelsea gets the sweet taste of revenge but the reader is in for a surprise with this story. Be careful how you cheat, if you get caught the penalty just might surprise you.
