It is near Hershey, Pennsylvania where Kes Harper and Rune Wheeler are about to have one huge awakening when they learn things about themselves they never knew and an enticing new tryst takes on a whole new meaning.

Kes Harper wants a commitment and it doesn’t look like she will ever get one from Rune Wheeler. One minute he behaves like a friend, the next a lover. After a wandering goat takes Kes to Sam Madison, she finds her body in a dangerous craving for the delicious Sam. In no time the two begin an intimate relationship that skyrockets. Kes finds that her hormones are on the knife edge of reason of late, and it is all due to Rune, who seems to be able to do anything for others but when she needs her desires fulfilled, it is a whole different story. But after setting her sights on Sam things are about to shift some heated excitement her way. This doesn’t sit too well with Rune who decides it is time for him to commit to Kes. It all has Kes in a turmoil that she doesn’t know which way to turn. Each man gives her considerable pleasure but the whole ordeal has Kes spinning like a top. After the men map out a plan to give her one incredible night of passion, Kes learns their little devil of a plan has managed to bring out the sexual beast inside her.

Rune is not certain if he likes it that Kes is following some guy who is an old marine that gives self-defense class. Rune has been busy detailing the Bel-Air because his business could definitely use the exposure before the annual car show. He is an incurable optimist and idiot dreamer and the more he gets to learn about Sam, he feels they are two birds from some sorry feathers. He knows that Sam wants Kes and it isn’t the first time that anyone has desired her, but if things turn out to be hurtful for Kes, Rune will be the first to step in and knock the ex-Marine into the dirt. He begins to feel if he kept Kes polished as much as he did his cars, then Kes might not have the wandering eye.

Sam has the ultimate hots for Kes but when push comes to shove, he can’t really grant his heart emotionally. As for giving the extreme pleasure, he is not lacking ability in that department. Sam is aware that Kes’s current live-in knows that he wishes Kes. He only hopes the two men can get along without killing each other. After all it’s not like he is going after a wife, but instead a girlfriend who doesn’t seem to mind flaunting her goods his way. All Sam knows is the feelings that he gets when he is separate from Kes. The moment he leaves her side he discovers he is missing her presence. Sam intends to find his own plan to capture the lovely Kes that will benefit each of them because he is not easily ready to suffer defeat because of some petty jealously from her live-in.

Kes desires Rune to be more of a committed man to her. If others in his business can find him dedicated to his work with the auto detail then he should pay as much detail to her body at least that is her viewpoint. After she pays a visit to a nearby neighbor, Kes begins to see a light at the end of the tunnel to solve her missed necessities. Sam recognizes the need that Kes has each time they are together and it is hard for her to break through her feelings emotionally and physically and release him in the moments of their sexual encounters. After he learns of her ultimate fantasy, things blaze for the both of them. Sam suggests the prospects of having two men at the same time that only increases her desires and makes her anxious to discover the doubled passion. Then a side to her makes her wonder if she goes through with it will she even have the chance of settling down with Rune and sharing that lasting commitment. There has to be some happy medium for each of them but first Kes has to discover how. And after Kes has her ultimate fantasy fulfilled she quickly learns that both men have trouble dealing with full time relationships but when all is said and done, who will Kes wish to have the long term allegiance with, where love is really more than a quick toss between the sheets. The heat is stifling and Kes needs whatever she can get to quench the insatiable thirst of passion that she desperately needs but will it be enough to satisfy her constant craving?

Still Life In Chocolate is a story like a starter fire. It begins tiny and then it edges more and by the middle of the book, the embers begin to rise and when it appears to smolder, the blazes really kicks up a notch and the fire heats like a bonfire explosion. What might begin as sweet and innocent explodes into a hot tamale with fire extinguishing hot sauce. The character of Kes is refreshing and one that is likeable as she instills all she wishes is to have that commitment that most women desire in life. Rune makes a likeable person as well as he wishes to make certain this is the one thing he seeks until death do them part.

Deborah Boyer blends a story with a well-defined plan of a woman seeking love and a certain pledge to last always. She allows Kes to be locked in a standstill between two lovers not eager to make up her mind between the two until she has her own answers. She gives Kes heart, understanding, compassion and human needs and allows her emotions to be lucid in the pages. Her story is forthright and honest and shows that in any given relationship if there is no trust or sincerity then it is lightly not to be the one true alliance to last a lifetime. This is one chocolate fantasy that is quite unusual and gives some thought.
