Mirelle works as a children’s book editor with Glass Mountain Publishers and found her boyfriend with another woman in the copier room. Now she doesn’t now if she will ever go in that room again. Too make matters worse there are other weird things going on in her life that she doesn’t understand. She believes that she is from Earth like all the other people she comes in contact with daily but there is a secret that she is most unaware. Mirelle has no idea that she is actually from Hearthome which in reality is a parallel world. She is unaware as a child she was kidnapped and transported to Earth. She thought discovering her boyfriend was bad, but things are about to take a double turn.

Each night when Mirelle falls asleep she continues to have steamy passionate dreams of an enigmatic visitor. In each dream fantasy sequence he lifts her into his world pulling her closer to him toward complete ecstasy then her alarm begins buzzing sounding loudly in her ear which leads to utter frustration. One night Mirelle has good fortune when she is able to snatch hold of the handsome dream man and engage in passionate love before the clock alarm blares. She quickly learns the truth about the dream when her incredible lover really comes to life. He professes that she is actually a princess that had been taken captive at birth and he is her soul mate.

Jareth is not just Mirelle’s dream man or soul mate. He is a royal mage and explains that she is a princess, the daughter of a king and queen that had been killed. She is also his betrothed. He instructs that he is to be her protector. Someway he has to find a way to convince her that this is not just some image passing through. He describes the way in which he was able to contact her through the dust that is called lanbeth. The majestic power of the dust is what the wizards of Hearthome use for their energy to create magic.

Jareth is a mage, the son of Morath and Mirelle’s soul mate. His first duty is to persuade Mirelle to stay with him on Hearthome. He desperately needs her. He needs her love or he will die. Making love to Mirelle lights the fuel he needs for his magic powers. And as his soul mate this is very important. If they can channel the power of their love, then everything will work to their advantage.

Mirelle is finally able to make a connection with Jareth. His golden-hair and mesmerizing eyes entice her to him and finally she is able to meet him in body and soul as the two make beautiful love together. She feels it is still only a dream since her alarm hasn’t made the normal sounding retreat. Suddenly in their heated passion a supernatural fire gathers around and when they reach their peak the blaze stirs to the earth and Mirelle finds them both peppered with the glowing dust.

Mirelle is definitely fascinated with Jareth but her home is on Earth. He may wish her to dwell with him on Hearthome but she won’t hear of it. When she starts to leave for Earth she finds herself caught up helping Jareth. He will die without her. There has to be some way of finding out who is trying to gain control of all the surrounding magic. Jareth and Mirelle try to make out the meaning of the tangled web while desperately falling in love with each other. She believes Jareth is indeed her perfect soul mate. They realize if they can utilize the love they feel for each other perhaps they can discover the truth about the real evil.
