Her cousin is missing, and Madeleine Bryant is quite determined to find Danielle, and then get home. She is not at all thrilled with the people that Danielle has been hanging out with, and she is surely going to give her the lecture about crazy and weird friends. It is bad enough that the neighborhood does not appear to be the most well lit one, but the whole thing is just too strange, and really gives her the creeps. She never really felt so uneasy before, but things have changed with Danielle’s disappearance. The Gothic style was never her interest, and it wasn’t her cousin’s either that she knew of at the moment. Madeleine was definitely at odds with the surroundings, and the fact that they had been teasing about being involved with axe-murderers recently gave her the jitters. Here she was again, looking for Danielle, her instincts telling her that the members of this household knew a lot more than what they were telling. Her suspicions ran deep, and she remained wary. There were things going on that she didn’t understand, and she was going to keep going until she understood it all.
There was one thing that is certain, Madeleine is as tenacious as a bull dog, and she knows instinctively it is most likely every bit of this inherent strength will be needed for what lies ahead. The path she has set herself on is very uncertain, and the man, the feelings tell her that the dark and enigmatic Stephen Smith is behind this somehow. He has denied knowing Danielle at every turn, and yet she is drawn to return again, and again, and yet again. She doesn’t want to admit to the attraction, the erotic pull that she feels around Stephen. She comes alive, and lives on the danger surrounding her now. The fear gives her pause, but her attitude of total defiance catches Stephen’s attention, and she is well aware of that little fact. There is not a lot that she can do about it now, Danielle has turned up murdered, and now she is determined to hunt down the killer. She was last seen with Dylan, and Dylan’s presence in his house means that Stephen really did know her didn’t he? How could he not have known Danielle? The killer has to be in this house, and she fairly certain that she has found him too…
Two hundred years had not dulled his hatred, nor had it dulled the pain. He has been able to push much aside, but now, this one small woman has brought back to his life a world of hurt, distrust, and also a mystery. Who was she, this Madeleine Bryant and why did she appear now? What was the purpose of all of these deaths in the community, and who was killing the Council? These were but a few of the questions that plagued Stephen Smith as he ponders the presence of the small woman that has been intruding so deeply into his life lately. Along with the uncomfortable feelings, and the prickly situation he found himself in, she was a huge liability threatening to expose everything. That was something that Stephen really couldn’t afford. The Council was going to take measures if he didn’t, but something deep inside would not let him destroy this particular pain. She has burrowed deep into Stephen’s life now, and for some inexplicable reason, he was unable to destroy her, and would not let anyone else destroy her either.
What is it bout this woman that brings him to this end? The members of the Council are being killed with the daggers that are his father’s legacy to him. The silver daggers were the tools of his father’s trade, and are not the only legacy bequeathed to Stephen, but how can the tools of a Vampire Hunter benefit the son, especially when the son IS a vampire? What the Council did not know in this case may hurt them, but as much as Stephen hated them for what they have done to him, he would not be so petty. It is true that his hatred and disrespect for them runs deep, after all, they were the reason that he was now living in their world. He was converted against his will, and he held no respect or affection for those who would set themselves above him, did not subscribe to their myriad rules and conventions now, or ever. The petty politics and power plays that they indulged in were not to his liking, but the only thing that really did concern him was that he is being set up for something. His fledgling, Nicholas, and his sweet Madeleine are also pawns in this sick game, and he will protect them. He will not rest until he finds out who and what has targeted them, and until the mystery is solved and they are out of danger
The Silver Dagger is a superb read, and T.L. Sinclare has done a marvelous job in the telling of this tale. The pair of star-crossed lovers, Madeleine and Stephen will not only touch your heart, but also bring a tingle to your spine. The Fates have always been unpredictable, and in pairing these two, they have started a whole new world, a new frontier to the community that Stephen belongs to, and who is afraid of him. What they did as a protective measure, has now become a nightmare, and Stephen knows that they are blaming him. As usual, he appears unconcerned, but the fact that someone is using him, Madeleine, and his father’s daggers for some nefarious reason has him more disturbed than he wishes to admit. The presence of Madeleine in his life has also added a measure of discomfort. As for Madeleine, She has been plunged into a world in which nothing seems real, and the erotic dreams, the fantasies, and the horror are not something only found in the movies.
The Silver Dagger is a well crafted story filled with suspense, horror, and enough romance to keep the most avid fan coming back for more. As a recommendation, the Silver Dagger rates very high on the list, and it is definitely not to be missed. Released in time for Halloween, and for Holiday reading, it is a tale of love and honor found in the dark world of the creatures of the night, and those who find themselves protected and loved by a vampire. The outcome is still very uncertain as T.L. Sinclare takes us through the twists and turns and trials of Stephen and Madeleine. The danger and the circumstances that brought them together are unusual, and the ultimate results will really surprise you. Released from ImaJinn Books at the end of October, the Silver Dagger by T.L. Sinclare is a definite must buy for your paranormal romance keeper shelf, and now I hope that we shall see a whole lot more from this author. My appetite has been whetted, and I want more. Please?!
Yours in good reading,
Rose!
