Jack Weaver was on the run. It was very strange how a talented agent such as himself could become the ultimate target for a gang of International Cartel members. It was not just the drugs either. These men dealt in almost anything and everything, and Jack was working hard to destroy them. His attention had to shift, however, when he discovers a plot to assassinate the President of the United States, and put into his place, the Vice President, one Warren Walters, a man whom they had firmly in their pocket. That was a pocket rife with corruption, the desire to rule the world, and to make certain that America paid for her gross negligence. Jack vowed to get to the bottom of it all, and so far, Carlos Cortez was one branch of the tree. Jack never counted on being betrayed, especially not by the honorable, Kent Larson, Deputy Director of the CIA, and his boss. This drove home the very depth to which the conspiracy and the plotting went, and the lengths to which someone would go to cover it all up. True, he had the proof that it was not Carlos behind the machinations, but he was still clueless as to who had enough motives and enough moxie to carry such a scheme through, let alone the wealth with which to line so many pockets.

He was a good man for this job, with the talents of a chameleon; he was able to blend into the surroundings. He was a handsome man, but not outrageously so. He turned women's heads, but possessed a ruggedness that kept him from being "beautiful" and drawing too much attention. He was safe, but now he was wanted. Not only by the CIA, but the FBI and any other of the alphabet agencies that handled such things as rogue operatives. It was true, that is what he'd become, and he had no one to really turn to he could trust. No one but his sister Lucy, who might be able to assist him in his quest to save the President-Elect form these terrorists and their plot to control the government of the United States. He had only himself to count on, and a few flashes of returning memories to guide him. Oh Yeah, he'd been through hell, and apparently he was slated for a return performance...

Helplessness was a position Caroline Walters was really tired of being put into, and the first chance to get out, she took. She was totally unaware of what or who had kidnapped her. All she knew was that someone, some man had taken her out from under the thumb of her abusive and dangerous husband. For some reason she felt somewhat safe in this man's care, but when she found out who he was, a man accused of murdering the Deputy Director of the CIA, she had to wonder. All she really cared was freedom was just a shout away, but she was reluctant to call attention to herself for fear she would be returned to her abuser, the Vice President-Elect Warren Walters. She wanted to avoid that at all costs, and now she was free, she was determined to stay that way, even if it meant facing all the danger right along with Jack Weaver. For some reason, a sense she didn't want to acknowledge, she trusted this particular man, and she would stay with him.

Caroline was not counting on having had a GPS tracker implanted, but when two and two finally added up to four, it set her mind. With the tracker removed, she was no longer a danger to Jack in that way and she could head off on her own if she wished, but there was something about this "Rogue Agent" that drew her, touched her, and she felt a kindred spirit with him. He, too, had been betrayed by those he looked to for information, for back-up, and to keep him safe. Now they were like two peas in a pod, and Caroline was determined to do everything within her power to help Jack with his mission to save the President-Elect, and the country, and she really didn't care about what Warren would say, or do. She only knows that her heart now lies with the former SEAL, and she will do whatever she can to aid his cause.

Kelly Abell has taken us on a delicious journey of suspense, dealing with the shadowy world of war, drugs, power, and corruption. She has given us two determined people, finding facts which are disturbing in and of themselves, but when melded together, take them to a whole new level of danger. Jack Weaver was betrayed once before in Iraq. Those flashes of memory are causing him problems until he is again betrayed by his boss. The dreams, nightmares, and the flashes of returning memory are starting to add up, and he surmises they could be the reason, or part of the reason for this current bout of betrayal by people he trusts. Now, alone and desperate to foil the plot he has uncovered, he takes into his confidence the alienated and abused wife of the one man who probably knows who he needs to find. However, Caroline Walters is definitely not what he is expecting. She was born and raised in the lap of luxury, but it has not really spoiled her. She knows her worth as a woman and as a partner, her husband, fool that he is, does not. Caroline's decision to stand by Jack makes him look twice, and as the attraction grows, they find themselves drawing closer together in spite of the danger surrounding them.

Sealed In Lies is a book you can't pass up if you are a lover of mysteries, murder, and mayhem with a touch of really hot romance thrown in to spice it all up. Kelly has done an excellent job in character portrayal, with the tension throughout the book, and the tragedy surrounding events for which Jack had either no memory or direct knowledge. It is a story of revenge gone awry, and of how one county-loving and dedicated man, one honest agent put it all together, then all on the line for his country and his woman. Sealed In Lies is a can't miss read, so head on over to Hearts on Fire books and get a copy today. You will not regret it, I assure you!!
