Catherine is a well-known restaurant critic with a major Chicago newspaper. She is a modern day successful woman who loves her job. After many let downs by men, she has decided to avoid the male gender, especially the drop dead gorgeous ones. The last dynamite guy she was engaged to, she happened to walk in on while he was in the shower and not alone, but with another man. That should have told her to completely forget the gorgeous ones. But she had to see Marcus in his white chef hat when she did a review on his restaurant. Instead of saying no the first night she goes out with him, she winds up in his bed. It was more than wonderful; everything about him was absolutely great, spelling love in all shapes for her. That was before she overheard another woman sharing his bed.

Now a year later, Catherine was certain that she would never have to lay eyes on Marc again. After all he had dragged her into court with a lawsuit after she wrote a stinging review of his restaurant after she heard him with another woman. What better way to get revenge on a man than write a nice little review for everyone to read? That had been disastrous in Marc’s eyes. Now a year later they have been summoned to a lawyer’s office because an unknown woman has left them, as their beneficiaries in her will. All she has to do is spend six weeks with Marc in Rose House and they inherit the woman’s fortune. Catherine is not certain if she can really proceed after the first week. She discovers no matter how hard she pushes Marc out, her heart is drawing him in and with the allure of the roses and misty dreams she has at Rose House, someone definitely wants the two to become one.

Marcus is a restaurant financier out for his first stake at culinary stardom. Not only is he drop dead gorgeous but he is very confident and driven. He is able to have any woman that he desires but only one comes to mind and that is Catherine; one look at her not to mention one night in her arms and he wishes no other woman. Unfortuantely he is afraid of the ‘L’ word. But all the other women have just been to release tension, with Catherine it has been different. Not long after their evenings really begin to sizzle, he feels she is growing to close to him and he cannot have a woman this close in his life. Normally he grows bored with women but Catherine is different. He has to find a way to break it off with her and the only answer he comes up with is to let her believe he has another woman in his bed. He had no idea it would start such a huge fight not to mention a fat wallet for the lawyers in court but he got rid of her and that is all that matters or is it?

Marc cannot believe that after a year he meets with Catherine again and is told he must spend six weeks with her to inherit the millions left to her and him by a generous woman they never met. Can he actually spend that much time with Catherine? She is still breathtaking beyond words and he would like nothing more than have her in his arms again but he is still frightened of the ‘L’ word, but with each passing day and the strange happenings in Rose House, he finds himself being drawn to Catherine all over again. What is the meaning of the rose smell and the dreams of Edward and Elizabeth that continue to trouble them? Someone or something is trying to send them a message that they belong together. Can he discover the answers before it is too late to share a lifetime with Catherine?

The Legacy Of Rose House is thoroughly charming. I immediately fell in love with Catherine and Marc and the whole surrounding of the place. I enjoyed the banter between the two characters. At times it was witty and intelligent and gave much depth to the storyline. This story was very refreshing and a complete page-turner. The part where Catherine was going to use a pen to get back at Marc after she had another cry was cute. I enjoyed when they arrived at Rose House and their banter really heated up, then the truce and then the gloves came off again and they were bickering with each other. These were moments that really set the story further into motion and the writing was absolutely outstanding. Ms. Christian expresses everything in a way that the whole scenery can be portrayed. The mention of the rose fragrance and the dream sequence was a most enchanting addition to the story as the two were transported into another time of two others practically in the same situation with their feelings. Catherine and Marc were strong to the end and grounded in their believes on everything even though by closing their hearts at times, they almost gave up the most important choice in life for fear of letting go. They made the story such a noteworthy read.

Ms. Christian incorporates great dialogue in the story that keeps it smoothly flowing. The banter and contact between Catherine and Marcus allows the reader to get caught up in the story where it is hard to put down. This is my first story by Ms. Christian and it promises not to be my last. She has penned a sensational stirring of different emotions that will truly touch your heart. Thanks Ms. Christian for an exceptional story that left me with a feel good feeling all over.
