In the year 2051 on a muggy day in Washington, several thousand people are gathering in a mall to protest the downfall of the United States Constitution. But when the soldiers step in and enforce strong action, life begins to shred for many.

Jake Johnsrud wasn’t with the first ranks but near enough to sense the danger. He didn’t come to protest to get shot, so he immediately drops his sign to surrender. He has a family-owned business in the Chicago area where he has a MBA that emphasizes on marketing. He has never broken any laws and is proud of his Norwegian heritage. After his parents died in a farming accident and his older brother insisted the farm was about played out, Jake decided to change his major to business. He believes that things should be done right within the government.

Annie Peterson had been spared when she clung to her husband for a shield only to discover he had been severely wounded. Further investigation proved her dear husband, Paul was dead. At 28, she was still very attractive and she and Paul had a good marriage. She was an administrative assistant in a major accounting firm but the day of the demonstration her life changed dramatically. Her husband, Paul, a construction foreman had served in the army when he was younger. He found the need to go to Washington to protest and protect the oath he always treasured and abided by. So leaving the dog with her mother, along with the plants to come by and water, they pack and take their one-year-old son, Robert along with them. Her boss doesn’t mind giving her any vacation time. Neither she nor Paul knew what the future held for them. Now that Annie witnesses her dear husband dead and the soldiers yanking her son from her arms, the worse of days is just ahead of her.

Crystal Compton is working on her doctoral thesis on the wildlife of the Mississippi ecosystem while working as the assistant curator at the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. She also holds a degree in Zoology and one thing she is against is Freezeland’s ecological policies. She never voted for the man that was for them nor does she support their actions. She intends to rally because his laws are anti-ecology. But when the soldiers begin their raid on the citizens carrying the signs, Crystal finds herself a prisoner with no turning back.

Now three lives, along with others are tore apart, homes are no longer a place they can get in their car and return to. Annie cannot even bury her husband nor hold her son in her arms. She doesn’t even know if she will be able to find him and hold him in her arms once more. It is as if they hold no freedom to anything, everything turns into an event that no one can put behind them.

The women are slung on a bus and transported to be sold into slavery. Some will be sent to the Moon so they can learn to live with new rules, and new homes. Most of the women will be used to benefit the men in anyway they see fit. Annie knows it is like a prostitution they have thrown her into and her little son is the only thing that keeps her taking what they throw into her lap until she can find a way to get out and find him, even if she must serve the prison term they pronounce on her until she can get parole. Annie and the other women do not like the way they are made into doxies to serve the men but anything at this time is better than death. Crystal doesn’t want to sign any paper, no matter if it states it is for only ten years, but she has no other choice, either take the prostitution or death. Jake learns that he along with two other men will be sent to the moon to help in the rock mine. He definitely doesn’t look forward to mining any rock but he has never broken the law. He decides to take the job hoping to make something out of it until he can see and taste freedom once more.

Once they arrive on the moon, Jake and Annie are thrown into seeing each other and in time begin to form an alliance. He emits feelings for her but she has lost her husband, her son, with no idea where little Robert is or if he is safe. As time passes, she is troubled by many things and doesn’t know if she can hold feelings for Jake. The unstable conditions on the moon are nothing like being at home. With all the chaotic disorder in her life she begins to wonder can she ever commit to him or any man again. The only concern that keeps them alive is the act of survival. That is all any of them can only hope will lead them to achieving some form of happiness in their life once more.

Rock Bound is a powerful read from beginning to end. Annie, Crystal, and Jake are excellent in their actions, triggering every little emotion to excel through the pages. All the secondary characters, especially the women, exhibit a strength to keep their bravery in a world where the soldiers and some men can be very rough. This reader kept wondering what if something like this really transpired today. It is an intense story filled with supremacy as women are degraded and men are forced to lower themselves to do the work handed them if they wish to continue to exist. The wrecking agony that is pronounced on the citizens, just by standing up for what they believed is right, spins a heart-tugging tale that touches in volumes. I found Annie’s courage and love she felt for Jake as she considered her late husband most spellbinding. They help to enhance the splendid storyline.

Ms. Weber has stemmed a serial that holds the readers interest and continues with a solid consistency all through the book. She fashions interesting and fresh characters that never pause. This reader thoroughly enjoyed this book immensely. I believe Ms. Weber’s talent for creating a captivating science fiction sequential tale is well-written and quite gripping. Her beginning draws the reader immediately into the story practically begging for more and when the ending draws to a nigh, the reader is left hanging for the next installment. This is one fabulous read! There’s still time to get this fantastic super read at Rochelle's Website where the future is spinning with great creativity.

Sincerely good reading,

Linda
