After receiving a call from his daughter, Skye, he fears something is wrong. She never calls him daddy unless she wants something or is up to something.
Thomas Hardy is a young scientist who works in the lab. He has a Masters Degree in Metaphysics and besides Conner was the only other person working in close confinement with Jacob Ransom on the time bender.
Dane Fortune planned the stage of attack perfectly, right after the robbery took place, that way there would be no way that he would be connected to the crime. It mattered nothing to him that the girl had been pleading for her life, that she figured he was there to save her. Everything had to fall into place respectively. Sent to take care of Emily and Jacob Ransom, their file read just like a storybook down to every little detail in which they were involved. Now all he had to do was silently wait in the wings for Jacob to show and if the information was correct, and it hadn’t been wrong yet, Jacob was so pressed into his work he lost track of time and that was something Dane was relying on.
Dane thought his mission was over after the hit on Jacob and Emily Ransom but a frenzied phone call from Conner prompts him to slay another. Now he must kill Skye, a woman who is quite lovely from the photo he observes, a photo that he had observed and memorized in his mind. He can do it, but he assures Conner this one will cost him double. When he demands the money from Conner before he does the deed, he soon learns that Conner can’t be trusted. Now he decides to get even because no one dupes on Dane Fortune.
Skye Ransom was fighting a major headache when she overheard the devastating newsbreak on the television. Her parent’s favorite lunch spot had just been attacked with a possible forty-one victims lying in the balance. When she can not reach them by phone she rushes out the door to make sure they are safe. She is on her way to her dad’s office unaware that someone is also ready to pay a visit to her father. Just hearing about her mother she doesn’t wish to lose her father either. Trepidation consumes her body. When she dashes into his office seconds before another tragic event takes place, her father’s last words urge her to protect the time bender.
Skye is more than overwrought after losing her parents in one day, planning a funeral and taking care of the estate. Seeing Conner Dade on her doorsteps is one facet she could do without. She is curious as to why he needs to know what she will be doing with her father’s business since it has landed in her lap. In her mind, he seems too interested for some reason. After Conner shows his true reason for the visit and points a gun at Skye, she has no choice but try to flee. In no time Conner is after her demanding to know where the time bender is and what she knows about the whole business. Skye finds a way to escape and heads to the lab to search for answers. She is taken back when she learns that her father was working on a time machine and there is a second that has fallen into the wrong hands. When she finds herself being targeted as the next victim, she heads into a store and while trying on a medieval type of gown finds herself being transported back into the early years in Scotland. Now she can only wonder if she will make it back home or be forced to marry a man she doesn’t love and live in Scotland forever.
Dane takes his job seriously. When he is hired he makes sure that no ties lead back to him and he always never gets involved but this time the best laid plans just might be interrupted. Skye cannot believe she had lost her parents in a matter of hours. And now Conner Dade is at her home beating her down with information that pertained to her father while making accusations that her parent’s death appeared suspicious. Now running for her life from the madman she is certain he had something to do with their murder. When she opens the mysterious envelope her father left in her care, she is certain the only one at the lab she can trust now is Thomas Hardy. She must go to him for answers and pray that she is correct in being able to fully confide in Thomas. Now she must find a way to stop an insanely jealous Conner before he can set his plan in motion and change a course in history. Dane is torn with taking the money and killing Skye or hoping Conner doesn’t come up with the balance. She is too beautiful to be killed but after being hired to do a mission and the money is in his hands, he must follow through but can he? With all the characters in play, only one can come out a winner, but whom?
The Adventures of Ransome and Fortune is a spine-tingling read. If any tale is read this year, this is the absolute one. The characters are mesmerizing and Skye is remarkably strong in her trials and tribulations. She is feisty and a person that comes to life in the pages. The character of Dane has such an animal magnetism the reader could practically feel his voice lift from the pages and even get a breeze of him walking. He seemed so real especially when he is near Skye. This is one incredible tale that keeps one on the edge of their seat. I was rubbing my palms in anticipation. This engaging story is loaded in dynamic cliffhangers that deliver tons of electrifying exhilaration.
Michelle Miles pens a breathtaking time travel that truly excels and delivers completely. With good descriptions, a great setting, impeccable detail and tight writing, this story is fast-paced and a remarkable roller coaster ride full of thrills and excitement.
