In honor of the wine god Bacchus, the Lords of Satyr meet in their vineyard for the Change of Moonful; a time when they take fey form. Between their furred haunches and just above their natural phallus, grows a second penis; both wholly to pleasure a female. Until dawn, the three brothers slake their lust, vigorously rutting shimmerskins one after another. Every month they endure this transformation. Locating their wifemate, who can overlook their beastie appearance, would make the ordeal more tolerable. Yet, the brothers are not successful in that arena. However, their Elseworld king knows of three fey women just right for these sex crazed beasties.

Nicholas is the business oriented brother, as well as the eldest, though holds dearly his responsibility to Satyr vineyards and his brothers’ well being. The brothers protect one of the many portals to Elseworld that is centered in the Satyr forest. Knowing of their plight, the king orders them to locate and marry his three daughters, who are half-human and half fey. As the last of their kind, compounded by Nick turning thirty years old soon, begetting heirs’ is definitely an urgent matter. Besides the king fears for his daughters’ safety, and since Satyr’s protect their own, Nick is the first to embark on the search for his lover, in Rome.

Jane despises the smell of wine, and the move from London to Tivoli, after her mother’s death, does not stop her father’s overindulgence in the spirit. Now destitute and living with her Aunt Izabel, she must fend off the woman’s designs to married her off quickly to Signore Nesta. He’s an older man only concerned with begetting sons, which Jane cannot tolerate or even begin to think on. Her burden rests with the care and concern for her sister, Emma’s future. Disguised as an impoverish mystic, Jane earns money that promises her and Emma a better life far away from a inebriated father and cunning aunt. Jane’s situation turns in her favor as a man of extreme wealth asks to marry including promises that allow Emma to live with them.

Prepare to be enraptured by handsome mythical beasts as Nicholas: The Lords of Satyr Book 1 introduces a sultry story, where the reader begins a journey into shameless carnal depravity. Jane’s marriage to Nick is quick as he is needed back home to tend to wine business. Once back at Blackstone, Nick’s castle, she settles in well as the staff rapidly grows fond of their new mistress of the house. However it is obvious to Nick that Jane has no clue to her fey skills, believing the magic curses so hides it. With a single touch she heals the ground and the plants within. Jane also discovers her powers are much stronger at the castle then before. Still, Nick is alarmed when uncovering her mission to find a “cure for her affliction”.

Ignited by sensuous characters, the erotic sexuality sears each page, fanning the flames of a highly intense plot. As the months go by Jane slowly falls in love with Nick, becoming jealous when hearing about the mistresses he still frequents. When she addresses the matter directly with her husband, Nick assures her it’s the “proper” thing to do; since wives cannot possible perform the lascivious carnal acts expected of mistresses. Jane surprises him when agreeing to his tutelage of men’s sexual needs. As she grows to his sexual equal, Nick is certain she is ready for The Calling; the Moonful mating where he impregnates her. Once she commits to his loving this night Jane cannot refuse him later in the night… she will be in for the long haul.

Ms. Amber provides more suspenseful mayhem in the guise of Jane’s benevolent Aunt Izabel. Aware of her niece’s magical blood, she intends to steal the Satyr lands so she may create and lead an otherworldly dynasty; that provides her a lifetime of wealth. Nick and his brothers are only needed as breeders so are expendable, as is Jane and her sister Emma. A Kensington Aphrodisia publication, Nicholas: The Lords of Satyr Book 1 is a keeper, and I am most anxious for the rest of the Lords of Satyr trilogy to be published. Also published through Kensington Aphrodisia, Raine: The Lords of Satyr Book 2 is due out March 2008, whereas Lyon: The Lords of Satyr Book 3 is scheduled for later release in 2008.
