A year ago Tarrant-Arragon wouldn’t believe he was going to set his sister up, but she had proven unruly and a definite liability. As he watched, and love took a hold between his cousin and his sister, he realized his hopes came true and Djetthro-Jason found a measure of peace and happiness with Martia-Djulia. He is bored in a way, and needs something else to do, and there is nothing worse than a bored Tarrant Arragon, because then he starts meddling in the lives of family, friends and even enemies. Having his sister settled in a good marriage is something he never thoiught to see, but he has another sister, and even over Djinny’s objections he has to have his mind occupied, even if it does concern his sibling’s lives, or lack thereof. The Tiger Prince may have a fearsome reputation, but he would rather have his sisters happy, even if it takes some underhanded manipulation to accomplish the feat. When he finds Electra-Djerroldina looking for a “sperm donor” he decides to step in and “help.”
On the Pleasure Moon of Eurydyce, things happened that had an effect on the Tigron Royal House, and on the house of The Saurian Dragon, himself a Great Djinn Prince of the deposed Royal Dragon line of Tigron. Ala’Aster-Djalet, father of Djarrhett and Djinni, is the head of the underground rebel army called the Saurian White Knights. Ala’Aster-Djalet, Madam Tara, and a select few knew of the plans made, and were skeptical of the desires of Tarrant Arragon to rule with a more benign hand. This is, however, a goal at which he seems to be succeeding, and succeeding rather well too. His Uncle Django-Ra was more cruel and more corrupt than anyone in Tigron Empire had ever known. With his death at the hands of Tarrant-Arragon and several others, he is no longer a threat. Eyes, mostly Tarrant-Arragon’s, are turned toward ‘Rhett, the Saurian’s Dragon’s heir apparent and brother to his own mate, Djinny-vera. But there is something else going on here, and Ala’Aster, Tarrant-Arragon, Hellispeta, and Madam Tara find themselves again drawn into the machinations that come with being Great Djinn of the Royal House of Tigron.
Djarrhett is not in the market for a mate, but he is in the market for an adventure. When the hint of a missing Great Djinn Daughter comes his way, he is more than willing to track the rumour down. It is not a hardship to go to earth, after all is said and done, he and Djinny-vera were raised there. He doesn’t mind at all, and due to a fever he had as a child, he is probably the best suited to track the girl/woman down. There is no way he will become maddened with the rutrage while transporting her back to Tigron. When he is given use of Tarrant Aragon’s best ship, The Trajant, formerly that of Django-Ra, he jumps at the opportunity and the respite to get away from his often fractions family. What the mild mannered ‘Rhett is not expecting is a stow-away, but then knowing Tarrant Arragon, anything is possible. There is one thing ‘Rhett is fairly certain of, and that is Tarrant-Arragon doesn’t really want an all-out war, at least he doesn’t think so. He has noticed the change in the way his cousin rules, and with ‘Rhett’s sister by his side, and her “Earthly mores,” ‘Rhett is convinced there are truly better things to come. Ponderings can come alter, and for now, with an unruly nephew and unwanted passenger aboard, ‘Rhett has to figure out why Thor-quentin was sent along, and who put Electra-Djerroldina on board and why?
Against all popular beliefs, Electra-Djerroldina really does like her husband. Oh there are great differences, and she will never be able to give him the child he wants and needs to secure succession. There are ways, however, to fool some into thinking a child she would bear might be her husband’s, but she would know the truth. Her husband can never sire a child on her, they are not compatible, however, a bit if chicanery would help, if she could find a willing sperm donor. When Djarrhett comes into her view, and she remembers the rumours about him and his prowess, she is tempted to action. To find herself rebuffed is something she was definitely not expecting, and that leaves her in a quandary as to what her next move will be, and how she will accomplish her goal. She is not expecting to run afoul of Tarrant-Arragon or one of his schemes, nor is she expecting to be separated from her husband. Stuck on a ship in the middle of space with a handsome and virile Great Djinn Prince, and with the possibility of war at hand, what is a girl to do?
Knight’s Fork, the latest in the saga of the Tiger Princes of Tigron, brings Princess Electra-Djerroldina face to face with some unpleasant realizations. Even though she is happily married, her husband is not compatible, so there can be no children unless Electra takes some drastic measures. Drawing ‘Rhett into her scheme is not prudent as she finds out when she is trapped on a ship with ‘Rhett by her brother, Tarrant Arragon, and then has her husband and ‘Rhett’s father chasing them. Each is trying to manipulate the situation to their own purposes, but as with all great plans, there are many things that can and do go awry. Rowena Cherry has again written a work that is utterly enthralling in its characters and plot. Again and again these pompous and arrogant Djinn are drawn into a world of intrigue as the Royal House of Tigron tries, sometimes successfully, to sort itself out. And of course, one in which Tarrant-Arragon can’t seem to stay out of much to his wife’s chagrin.
Again Rowena Cherry brings us into the turbulent lives of the divided Royal House of Tigron, but there is mischief afoot there. When ‘Rhett leaves Madam Tara’s on Eurydyce, things will never be the same again, thanks to his cousin, Tarrant-Arragon. Electra-Djerroldina, conception depends on secrecy, and the ability for them to remain discrete in her plans and desires. Now with her brother’s interference, will she succeed? The better question will be will she and ‘Rhett survive the machinations of her brother and ‘Rhett’s father. Rowena Cherry struck another excellent note with Djetth and Martia’s story, and now in Knight’s Fork, she does the same thing with ‘Rhett and Electra. There were questions left unanswered again in Insufficient Mating Material, and Rowena has skillfully answered some of then for us, and then turns around and leaves us with a whole new set to ponder. I loved this book. I never laughed so hard in my life at the antics of Tarrant-Arragon and Djarrhett in this book, Knight's Fork. Poor 'Rhett is in a terrible position thanks to Tarrant-Arragon, and it is made even worst by his father's attempts to benefit and manipulate the matter to his own ends. Add to that, misunderstandings and meddlesome women, and Rowena Cherry gives us yet another fantastic read! You will love this book because it is one or Rowena's best, and I know Knight’s Fork, is a read you will not want to miss either. Keep an eye on Dorchester Publishing to see when it will be available. You can also pre-order it at Amazon. This book is so good, I have had to read it a third time!
Yours in good reading,
