Her first trip to France turns into a game of hide and seek after Toni Peters’ childhood friend disappears, without a note or phone call. From Paris Toni travels to Marseille making inquires in every hotel there, but still unable to locate her friend. She concedes to spending her vacation alone in France, until receiving a note instructing her to be at Les Arbres by noon tomorrow. Frustrated and feeling a bit put out by her friend’s thoughtless behavior, she boards a train to Cassis, discovering Les Arbres a beautiful home with an equally handsome owne

Neil Trenton, a Detective Chief Inspector in England, vacations at his family’s French home, inherited through his grandfather. His dislike for his brother’s ex-fiancée rises when meeting her childhood friend, a dark haired beauty, who knows nothing about Jane’s engagement and then break up with his younger brother, Ian. Much less her prancing around Paris on the arm of Rocco Lucca, a Corsican man who instills fear with his wealthy power. All the while, Jane keeps Ian within her grasps, a safe refuge for when Rocco’s macho behavior becomes too overwhelming. With Rocco, Jane may have more man then she can handle, he threatens to carve his initials into her face if she does not return. However, Neil is not too concerned about Jane’s whereabouts, distracted by Toni’s lusty attraction for him.

A publication from Amber Quill Press, Just One Look captivates the reader with a mysterious disappearance and the relentless search by a devoted friend. Toni arrives in France with plans that her best friend, Jane Doyle will join in the vacation. She uncovers that Jane has resigned from her old hotel job in Paris, moving to a new employer in Marseille, but no one has seen her. Not until Toni arrives in Cassis does she realize her friend’s secret life of a woman on the town, stringing two men along for her own pleasures and whims. Salvaging her otherwise ruined vacation are the erotic pleasures she experiences with Neil.

Obviously, these characters are not afraid to satisfy their carnal needs, as Neil seduces Toni, first with a heated kiss while his hands freely roam her body. Their teasing, encouraging dialog stimulates them, and the reader, creating a steamy pictorial as she gives in to Neil fully, not caring that they just met. Toni and Neil’s climax is erotic and very gratifying.

Staying at Les Arbres, Neil shows Toni the beaches of Cassis. Upon their return to town, a boy approaches her, claiming Jane sent him and without hesitation, she gets into the youth’s car without telling Neil. Taken to an isolated house outside of Cassis, Toni finds herself handcuffed to a chair with Ian Trenton moaning in the corner. Still worse, is facing Rocco Lucca, Jane’s lover.

A well-written erotic mystery, Christiane France hands over an engaging story that at times is amusing but always interesting. Readers will enjoy the charismatic characters, Toni and Neil as the other cast members aptly support the fluid suspenseful plot. Neil is a take-charge kind of man but not a selfish lover, bringing Toni to climax without regard to his own needs. Toni is a confident woman, proven when in a strange country she continues to search for her friend. Then, giving as well as receiving, she satisfies Neil with some masterful oral pleasures, which leads to a more arousing joining. Christiane France is a pseudonym for mystery/suspense writer Chris Grover, who’s also published under Amber Quill’s non-erotica line.
