With Anya, it was only a few more years till she followed with the same enthusiasm and love of the old cars engendered in her by her father and brother. With three of them working they kept business going at a brisk pace, and soon garnered a reputation for being the best. But now, an opportunity has arisen for them to expand. It would mean going to the patron's home, but neither she nor Joey wanted to commit until they saw what they would be working with and working on in the way of cars. Anya was curious as to what they would have to work with in the new commission, should they accept.
As they pulled up to the address where they were to find the vehicles in question, Anya wondered what they were in for in such environs. There is great wealth evident here, the place was truly a mansion. A butler answered the door, leading them to a pristine garage where the four cars they were to restore were being housed. She gasped horror at the the condition of the four vehicles, a 1992 Dodge Viper, a 1966 Shelby Mustang, a 1994 Lamborghini Diablo SE30, and a 1995 Ferrari F50. It angered her as she viewed each one with its fair share of chips bangs dings and assorted broken or missing pieces. The value once restored, however, would be incredible, and the fact Mr. Hart was then donating them to a charity was astounding. It made her wonder exactly who Mr. Duncan Hart is, and what angle he is working. Anya did have to give the man credit, the generosity was heart-warming Anya and Joey were going to give the cars their best efforts even though they did not believe ten months was enough time...
There is something alluring about the short slim figure of one of the pair examining his cars. Duncan Hart talked to a woman on the phone when he arranged for the meeting. Could this be the same person? The simple attraction he cannot explain blooms as he hears the tinkling laugh, sees the enchanting pale face, beautifully carved by nature. Unsure about the relationship between the pair, Duncan is determined to find a way to get Anya in his bed. He wants to explore this feeling but he doesn’t want an entanglement with a human. He has been warned against becoming involved on any level with humans when it comes to romance or a sexual relationship. Too often they become quite clinging and demanding, causing the parties involved to part with less than satisfactory memories and often with enmity. Until now, Duncan far preferred his affaires to be with others of his kind, but this one small human female has him intrigued beyond any other.
With Anya distracting him, he allows his emotions to get the better of him. He finds jealousy coming on board, something he has never experienced nor had to deal with before. Relief that Joey is her brother and not her lover further spurs his determination, but he finds her immune to his attempts to give Anya mental nudges, and finds he must deal with her more directly. This bothers him on more than a subconscious level. Angels can influence humans, but Anya appears to be totally unaware of his attempted suggestions, while her brother readily succumbs to his powers of persuasion. A bit of manipulation and Joey is off for the evening with his current girlfriend, leaving Anya alone with Duncan. He only hopes that he has not let his powers of seduction get too rusty for now he will have to rely on his charm and ability to distract Anya to get her into his bed.
Hidden Angel by Dakota Dawn is a tale of erotic fantasy and a delightful group of characters. A lost child, stolen at birth who is totally unaware of her birthright, and a soul-mate who stumbles upon her without knowing exactly who she is. The problems Anya carries come from the unusual tattoo that spans the length of her back from shoulder to thigh. This has been the source of great worry from the time she was found by her father. Anya has no idea who she is, but then neither does Tim or Joey. All any of them know for certain is Anya is a beloved daughter and sister, and anything else is unthinkable. Anger at the fact anyone would put such a young child through the torture of such a tattoo has spurred very protective feelings in both her men, and insured she was home schooled with Joey and joined him and Tim in the Cleve family business of restoring classic cars.
This is a wonderful story which takes the reader into another world of fantasy and the realm in which angles walk among us without our knowledge. It is built around good characters, a plausible plot, and an very interesting premise in the kidnapping of an angel child and the subsequent attempts to complete a task thought finished when the child was abandoned. Dakota Dawn is a masterful story teller, and assures the reader of a fast and thrilling read for the money. I am glad Hidden Angel by Dakota Dawn, in ebook form from Siren-Bookstrand Publishing came across my desk, and want you all to know this is a definite keeper for my ebook shelf.
