Dani Lampert was sure after four years that Brian was the man for her, the one that would share her dreams and the one to build a future together. She was so certain of their commitment for each other that she sat down and starting making wedding plans. Then out of nowhere Brian says it is over. It was like there had been nothing between them and now he was gone. She didn’t understand how a person could say they loved you; wanted to marry you, and then when the plans were being made, chose to escape. Now alone, with no Brian, she decides to run away for the weekend to clear her head.

Dani hops in her car and heads to a beach bungalow for a weekend to free her head of Brian. She still cannot believe after four years of being with him he is gone. Perhaps spending time behind four walls is not a good idea but the beach surely won’t be too crowded to give her some alone time. After settling into her room she decides to go and grab a bite to eat. It is a nice restaurant and when she finishes her meal and gets up to leave she spies a penny on the floor, hoping it will bring good luck. Bending over to retrieve it, she finds herself knocked down only to awake and find a very handsome man hovering over her.

Cody Shepherd had seen pretty women but when Dani entered the restaurant he couldn’t recall when he saw such a lovely woman. He had to think of some way to introduce himself. Seeing her lean over to pick up a penny he comes up with a plan, not realizing when he strikes her with the open door it would send her into darkness.

Cody is stunned when he explains to Dani how he wanted to meet her. They share a soda and carry on a conversation that soon leads to much more between the two. He learns that he will be attending the same college she is enrolled which means perhaps they can share lots more time together.

Dani cannot believe her luck when she meets Cody. When he tells her how pretty she is, it makes her feel good inside. She finally expels her real reason for being at the beach bungalow. Cody feeling more secure begins to tell her about a love that got away. It was something just not meant to be but he feels that perhaps there is a reason why they are brought together. Dani was sure this would be a way to try to understand why Brian really left. Now with the acquaintance of Cody, she can’t help but wonder are his actions and words truthful or is she just a passing moment for a sensual weekend?

Fireworks and Independence is a romantic story that is a wonderful page-turner. The characters of Dani and Cody are refreshing as they try to understand what their purpose is in life when it comes to finding true love. They both have experienced a setback with romance as they battle over their feelings. Regina Hammond has a way of penning a story that makes the heart joyful. I loved the chemistry between these two characters. Ms. Hammond writes a terrific story that satisfies. Grab your copy today at The Wild Rose Press. You will be happy you did.
