The Year 1879:

Gačtan Leflur is half Arapaho and his mother runs a brothel. Wishing to keep his promise to a man on his deathbed, he seeks to find a bride to enhance his persona. After arriving in London, the one thing that comes to mind is keeping his promise and finding that English wife. The attendance at the party would further help him in his search. With an English bride it would be the perfect opportunity to improve his representation with many impending financiers. And the party was just the beginning that would lend him entry to finding that perfect choice. Thanks to his good friend, Lord Nick Grayson, he had been given a good list of potential brides. Unfortunately, one woman that catches his eye is not even on the list but there is something quite different about her that sparks a sudden interest.

Lady Moyra Dunford will do anything she can to escape her revolting guardian, Lord Elliot. The other is to find Reed, her long-lost brother. When she attends the party, she is not well-known or one of much beauty and certainly not on the list to be any bride since Lord Elliot intends on having her for his own selfish reasons. The nearly sixty-year-old man not only has lusted for Lady Moyra but is desperate for her money, and with the help of his sister, Duchess of Hollingsworth, he hopes to make Lady Moyra his bride and have all her wealth. Of course Moyra is in no way willing to accept any agreement between Lord Elliot or his sister. So after hearing the conversation stirring that Gačtan is looking for a wife, she feels the brave man is exactly the one she is seeking to come to her rescue.

Gačtan soon realizes that Lady Moyra is just the woman he needs to give him the chance to upgrade his personal life for all his potential investors, so to speak. Not only that, the woman seems to throw him in a way that acts upon his emotions. She is quite different from the other women. When Moyra begins carrying on a conversation with him that soon turns into a compromising deal it doesn’t sit too well with Lord Elliot, who is fit to be tied. With the help of Lord Nick, Gaetan uses tactics to make sure that Lord Elliot doesn’t interfere with his plans. After all, not only is the sly, old man greedy, but they are certain that he doesn’t wish the others to know about his dirty little tricks or anything. And after he is told by Moyra how the man had tried to touch her and she slapped him, he instantly informs that the old man will never have the opportunity to touch her again, after they are wed and he carries her to America. For surety, he would bury the parasite if he touched Moyra ever again.

Lady Moyra wants freedom at any costs, even if it means giving up her wealth to a marriage by contract with no love attached, and she certainly doesn’t wish it with Lord Elliot. She is so desperate she even promises to give her virtue to Gačtan and come to his room whenever he summons. Gačtan seems the perfect choice to give her the liberty she so desperately desires. She is thoroughly impressed by the way he wishes to care for her in any endeavor. To ensure an even better freedom, the two head for America, a land full of opportunities and dreams, and even though a land uncultivated, Moyra feels the challenge will be well worth the price instead of being with a tyrant. Of course she never figured that the land she had hoped to be an American would turn out to be one not only of freedom but a land of harsh and cruel reality. Gačtan may be pessimistic and the marriage may only be one of convenience, but her future looks less frightening being with him. Neither anticipating the heartstrings stirring something between them, they book a passage and he transports her to America, a place that he would much rather be than in London. The passion the two soon feels for each other rages on as they fight their growing attraction.

Every Time You Go Away is a story that engages the reader with every turn of the page. Incredibly written, the characters are so believable it’s like the reader is in the story as Moyra and Gačtan waltz like a sweet melody in their relationship. I enjoyed the conversation when Gačtan and Moyra first meet and he learns that she is not on the list and was a surprise than some of the other women. Ms. Asbury incorporates other members into the storyline making it flow consistently but the creation of her hero and heroine is a remarkable spin that made this reader wish to read more. With in-depth characters of Nora York, who had met Gačtan on his travels and was eager to assist Moyra in some things that she needed to be taught, and Cherokee, and J.D. who were great helpers on the ranch for Gačtan, the reader is able to grasp more emotions throughout the pages.

I especially enjoyed the way that Ms. Asbury took the secondary cast, like important ingredients in a recipe and blended them well into the story making Moyra and Gačtan’s experiences realistic. Their impending relationship with all the little ups and downs was cleverly constructed demonstrating the importance of love in one’s life. When Gačtan doesn’t feel like he is worthy to ever have Moyra’s love, I could feel his pain. With Moyra’s enduring love, she continues to tell him how important it is to be part of a family. The emotion displayed throughout this story really makes it one worth-while read. There are so many excellent moments that make this one of those stories that leaves you with a feel good feeling inside. Anyone lacking courage or desperation in their life, should really read this sensational masterpiece. The dialogue alone made Every Time You Go Away one tale that I could read over and over again. Excellent, in every way!!! Touching, sweet and awesome all rolled into one. Why not hurry on over to Linden Bay Romances and be sure to get a copy of Every Time You Go Away today!!!!

Sincerely good reading,
