It was girl’s night in. The three of them planned on getting drunk, playing a board game, and maybe finishing up with a chic-flick. Of course, the last time they’d gotten together, they’d barely made it through two rounds of Twister before Candi passed out in the middle of the plastic mat. They never could figure out who won
Renee, Candi, and Mina were best of friends. Unlikely maybe, due to their disparate personalities, but nevertheless, it was there. It was a friendship which allowed them to ignore each other's faults, share time together, and go their separate ways with out criticism or judgment. It was also a habit to meet for a "girl's night in", though busy lives meant it had been quite a while since they last got together. Candi was always antsy and impatient, still all-in-all they had fun. Renee was playing hostess this night, and as she gave Candi the first of the margaritas, she wondered what the evening would bring. They were each as different as night and day, Candi needed constant stimulation, and a stream of new men to fulfill her needs. Mina was rather eccentric in her own way, chosing her companions from the more odd sizes and make ups. Renee considered herself the most boring of the three. She was just as happy with a cup of tea and a good book as anything else, but these get together slumber party nights were not to be missed, and special for them all.
As the three normally settled down to some serious gossip, game playing, and general chatting, it was usually Candi who conked out first, and this night didn't look to be anny different. She was the poster child for any hyperactivity disorder you could name. Mina, on the other hand was eccentric, and her costume du jour was an example. She looked more like a gypsy than anything, or maybe a whitch, either way, Mina was mina, and she came bearing gifts. A bottle of great tequilla, José Cuervo Golden Margarita, and a new board game. That of course brought another story, a new project for Mina who seemed to have it on her agenda to teach all the young men in the world exactly what women want, and then how to get what they want as well. It was just another quirrk of her character, and another notch in Mina's belt as she relayed what she did to get her hands on the exciting new board game. Of course the box containing the game looked older than the hills, but it was intriguing, and as Candi ran to get the galsses for the José Cuervo, Mina started setting up the unusual game.
Erotikos, an odd name, and an even odder box. Covered in a textured, flesh-like covering, the box was beautifully if erotically embossed with figures that appeared to be almost burned into the surface. The center, a raised mirror-like piece in a guilded frame lay just below the name. There were figures there, depictions of different men from different times or worlds, fantasies come to life if they were real. An Indian with a tomahawk, a cowboy,a selkie, a vampire, each side of the board seemed to have a different theme, each one several characters from which to choose. As they set out the pieces, chose their characters, and commenced play, The three had no idea what they were getting into, or what adventures they were going to have this night. Erotikos, it seemed, was more of an experience than a game, and each of the women were about to get the experience of of a lifetime. Never would it be said by any of them they didn't believe in the supernatural, for what happened to them could never duplicated in the realms of normal reality.
Shannon Leigh brings imagination, lore, and the gift for telling an erotic story to life again in Erotikos. She has skillfully crafted a tale of three friends who go on an erotic journey. Each is different, and yet each is the same, but all are fulfilling and urge the players of the game on to the next levels. Renee, Candi, and Mina started a long put off girls night in, and end up with some of the most erotic experiences in their young lives. Each can find the man of her dreams more than once, each can decide where they want to be, but they all must be in accord in order for the magic to work. Trips through the magical and mystical must be joined by all and agreed to by all, and as they decide to play, and tale that final step, each commits herself to a magical experience like no other. What awaits within the game is pleasure beyond bounds, and only by playing can they experience everything the game has to offer.
I refuse to go further into Erotikos because it is a book that must be read to be believed, read to be experienced, and only in that way can you understand the delightful whimsey and talent of Shannon and her imagination. Erotikos is available from Amber Quill Press, and their Amber Heat imprint. As with all Shannon's books, it is a racy, sexy romp, and a page turner you will not want to put down. In this case, it is also an experience, and one trip I can highly recommend you take, especially if you enjoy a steamy and really HOT read! It is a keeper.
