It was a very silly thing she did that day, but Ella Kent really couldn’t help herself. She had one fond wish, and that was to be slim, trim, and beautiful. Richard Shelton has been her best friend since high school, and as they sat at the table in their favourite restaurant, O’Malley’s, she was depressed. There she sat with her best friend, her gay best friend, and celebrating a birthday. This was not just any birthday, but her thirtieth one, the one by which time she had hoped to be married, and settled down with a family and some kids. It was not to be, that goal had not been reached. Ella wanted to be loved for herself, but she also wanted to be beautiful, desirable, and that was no easy task to accomplish. She knows that she may never be the willow thin person that she would dream about, but fate seemed to conspire against her. The lure of Godiva and good food left her lacking the prerequisite will to say no, and she really hated that.

Stress also played a part, and is a big factor in her problems, and the teasing and name calling by cruel and shallow people only adds to her problems and crushes her self-esteem even more. She knows things would really be a lot worse if it weren’t for her friendship with Richard, and his loyalty to her. Richard can be counted on to pick her up when she falls, to dry her tears, and to offer a shoulder to cry on, but that’s all. Ella really wishes for someone to love, someone to care for, and someone who will love her in return. The potion she bought from the gypsy is a fleeting wish, the carnival at the pier one of those fly-by-night affaires, and Richard told her that there was no potion that would help her. He loves her as she is, and wants her to love herself, but Ella does understand where he is coming from. The lure of the wish is too strong, and when things backfire on her, she is stuck in an existence for which she’s unprepared. She has her wish for thirty days, and beginning a journey into love and life that could last a lifetime.

Ian Clayton couldn’t believe his luck. A successful business man, he has everything he needs in life except for companionship. As handsome as his face is, his less than perfect self leaves women cold. If he could have his wish, there would be a special woman out there somewhere, and he surely wishes he could find her. She would be a woman who would look at him and see him for what he is, not for what he was or should be. To that end, Ian has had his eyes open, but so far his has had no luck. The women he does find seem to vanish, to disappear without a trace. He knows his life would b so much fuller if he could find the woman made just for him.

Success has not gone to his head, and he doesn’t demand a woman be a slave to fashion, but his requirements, no matter how liberal cannot secure him the woman of his dreams. He feels that to get her, he must be perfect, and to have that wish fulfilled has become his fondest dream, and his most fervent wish. It might take a miracle for his dreams to come true, but Ian is willing to give it a try. After all, what good are things, a nice home, a good business, and a circle of friends if you had no one special to share them with? Ian is not asking for much, but he may get that and more if wishes could come true and he could find that one elegant special woman to be his very own.

Isabella Jordan brings us a story of two lonely people, each handicapped by their own particular brand of negative self esteem. What fate has in store for these two will open their eyes, and their hearts. What Ella finds in Ian, is not a quality shown in outward appearance. It is the same quality she too possesses, and it starts them on a path towards realizing that together they can accomplish anything. From the depths of despair to the heights of passion, Ella and Ian will find their way into your heart.

Elegant is a wonderful novella. Isabella has done a marvelous job. Although I would have liked to know a bit more about Ian and his background, the story is not lacking in grace, beauty, or imagination. Elegant has just the right touch of magic that leaves you wishing, and even believing it could happen to you. Elegant is available from Amber Quill Press, and I would advise you to check it out if you are in the mood for a fun, quick, and sexy read. It is an adventure into life, with a touch of magic we all want to have in our lives. The magic of love.

Yours in good reading,

Rose!
