Since his death a year ago, Meg dreams frequently of her husband, Matt. On the eve of his drowning, she dreams of someone else, when the next morning she finds that very man on the beach. He claims to have no recollection of how he got there yet, the bump on his head and the bruises tell of a fierce struggle. Though having no information about the man, Meg lets him into her house…and eventually her bed.

Caleb Hunter remembers only his name and a miniscule of personal truths; height, hair and eye color. His memory faintly recalls hostile male voices as their physical blows land, before a giving in to a blacken void. Accepting the lone woman’s kindness, he cannot help sensing a familiarity. His attraction towards her is quick, overwhelming all reasoning.

An incredible riveting story, Dark Tides takes the reader on a turbulent ride of intension emotions blended with suspenseful mystery. In this profound novel, Meg bears the weigh of her husband’s leaving and then his death, having predicted the later which he rebuked. Her empathetic ability nourishes an already brittle emotional state as she senses Caleb’s turmoil over his lack of memory. This distressing, though thrilling, tale develops into an enchanting romance, one based on honesty and the knowledge that it may not last. With Caleb’s memory loss, Meg takes into account that he may have a wife and family waiting for him to return home. This still does not stop her from climbing into bed with him, seeking comfort from her fearful thoughts, which leads to more than cuddling.

Caleb’s guilt-ridden, believing he is taking advantage of her fragile state and hospitality. Even his searches on the net reveal nothing of his existence, more worrisome is the fact that no one in town reports any downed ships. Alone in the house, Caleb dials a phone number he suddenly remembers, only to get a busy signal. Frustrated he goes to the bathroom to throw some water on his face, and then when looking into the mirror he sees another face staring back at him. Even after searching the bathroom, then the entire house, Caleb is quite shaken from the experience.

More mystery comes by way of Sheriff Dan Stauffer, investigating officer during her husband’s death who continues working the case although it closed months ago. Nightly he watches Meg’s house, looking for any clues as to her involvement in Matt’s activities leading up to his death. On one such night, he spots something unusual on the beach. Investigating it, he finds a piece of debris from the Bonafide Venture, Matt’s boat. Beginning his trek back to the patrol car, Dan feels a deep foreboding as the footsteps behind him continue their steady pace, matching his stride
