Richard Hart works with the English intelligence as an expatriate, a man who really belongs nowhere. He decides to go back to England to recuperate over his last mission. He has been drilled to kill with no remorse and with all the killings he has conducted, he would be completely mad if he felt bad about every man that had died under his hands. He tells his psychiatrist that his fear is the only reason he has stayed alive. He does get the shakes thinking of some of the deals he has to do, but the psychiatrist informs that whatever he expels to her, he is safe. Still through all his obstacles, he wonders is he ready for the men in white coats to appear?

While in England Richard happens to meet Claire. Since he cannot be upright and tell her what he really does, he informs he works for MEW, Ministry of Economic Welfare. The first moment he set eyes on her, it is hard for him to look the other way. She is someone he would like to get to know, even though his job has no room for romance, he still considers what it would be like to be with her.

Claire O’Neill is in England with her famous writer father, Jack O’Neill, who is correspondent for the San Francisco Examiner. She has suffered much sorrow with the death of her mother and the road has often been bumpy. She wishes to hold dearly to her mother’s memory and learn the truth about everything involved in her life. While in London, she feels it will be her opportunity since it was where her mother had died. She hopes that some of the people that were affiliated with her mother can enlighten more about her life.

Claire is a gifted artist and when she meets Richard she feels an attraction to him. She is very cautious with her feelings and feels that often relationships have a way of not working out for the best. Consider her mother who happened to also be a gifted artist but with her marriage and giving birth to Claire, her career ambitions went out the window. Still she feels she might be able to make her life work for her and Richard, but things seem to get a bit sticky, especially after Richard decides to return to help the war effort.

Claire feels like she has missed out on things in life. Claire and Richard become entangled in a love that they feel can work to their advantage if they work at it, but with the war, the bomb shelters and the deep scars in their life, they know it will be a tough road if they wish their relationship to work. It appears that doom, their past and the war, may put a damper on the love they have for the other. They soon discover it is all about choice and the decision they make could be a lifetime of learning to love the other always throughout the ups and downs.

Warring Hearts: Cradle the Light is a poignant read that really tugs at the heartstrings. The huge cast of characters spins a cleverly written composure that carries the reader practically into the center of the action and the in-depth emotions of Claire and Richard. It was so realistic the way Claire wanted to learn more about her mother’s life, not to mention for the reader to get to meet some of people and hear their stories. Richard and his plight could be felt from the first page. This is a caring individual who has to fight any feelings because of his trained job, yet deep down, one can almost get an impressible feel of what a wonderful compassionate man he is, underneath that tough exterior. The way he and Claire work to create a loving relationship while trying to repair scars that continue to hang over their head was really remarkable.

Vicki Gaia takes two lost souls and molds them into loving companions that seek to find that one important step in life to heal all wounds. She sketches an in-depth believable tale that captures the reader from the first page to the last. The stirring sensations she gives to the characters as well as the description of the events during the war is so incredible, that this read will be one that I will not forget. She even painted Claire’s father as someone that needed to be healed from a tormented pain. Emotional, realistic and downright wonderful, this is one compelling read that generates life long memories and touches the heart in so many ways. Why not bring home the magic that leaps from the pages in a magnificent read with heart and soul. This wonderful novel can be purchased at www.awe-struck.net where excitement and romance awaits.

Sincerely good reading,

Linda
