Founded on Eros and Psyche’s mythical fable, Ms. Kitt spins a thrilling, sexy contemporary tale of two lovers torn apart by betrayal, and then left to discover forgiveness while learning the genuineness of one’s inner self.
Her sister’s Valentine’s Day party is clearly a matchmaking event staged for her benefit. Angered, Annie storms from the game, Spin-the-Bottle after her brother-in-law attempts to kiss her. She has known since childhood that, out of her two sisters, she was the pretty one, and frustrated when that is all anyone ever sees in her. Still fuming by this awareness, she encounters a man under the kitchen table, his appearance masked by the unlit kitchen. She complies with his request not to turn on the light, and then joins him. They chat about how first impressions or initial appearances stay with a person…also, whether or not Annie is conceited about her appearance.
After Eric massages her temples, he moves to her shoulders, which leads to mind-blowing sex on her sister’s table. Wanting to spend more time with Annie, he asks to go to her apartment, not before Eric exacts a promise from her to leave the light off the entire time they are together. Yet, her sisters quickly convince Annie to break that promise. Betrayed Eric leaves, beginning Annie’s month long search for him. The search ends when her sister locates his mother’s phone number, where Annie’s unusual quest for Eric starts. A long the way, she learns many lessons and truths.
The story becomes quite fascinating when Annie meets Dita, Eric’s mother. She informs Annie that Eric revealed all that transpired at her sister’s party, even her betrayal. To prove Annie’s love for her son, Dita sends her on several unusual missions. First, she has Annie sort the coffee and cocoa beans she spills on the floor. During the sorting Annie recalls how she was convinced to break up with a good man, because as a schoolteacher his income was limited. Her sisters planted that seed of doubt in Annie’s mind, but it was a decision she made wholly by herself. Proving how she easily sways from her own goals by another’s influence, handing over control of her own life. There are more pursuits that Dita sends Annie on, which are profound. Sparking the reader to think about those quests and what they mean, even what changes need to occur in order to earn and keep Eric’s trust and love.
Stunning characters fuel this brilliant story as Eric’s presence, though minimal throughout most of the story, lingers after his dramatic exit in chapter two. Annie dominates the read, determined to find the one man she will ever love. The sexual tension flares as the two main characters jump right into a sizzling joining, then relived through Annie’s reminiscing, which is hot!
Published by Star Dust Press, Blind Date is a brisk read, keeping the reader absorbed all the way through to the end. Also from Star Dust, Ms. Kitt will publish soon the following books: The Surrender of Persephone, The Song of Orpheus, The Heart of Hephaestus, The Real Mother Goose.
