There comes events in one’s life that often makes one feel what if one little second of a life, a past, could be changed. Such is in the case of Mary Ann who has feelings for two men in her life. Torn and confused, she loves Brad, as well as Robert, and wonders what a life would be creating the perfect marriage. After choosing Brad, she sets out to show him they can have the idea life together as husband and wife.
Mary Ann loves Brad Radcliffe and appreciates the way he allows her to be herself but as the days pass before her, she begins to speculate what her life would be like if she had married the mysterious handsome Robert Monroe. The first time she saw Robert, she felt like she had been struck by lightning. Still a good friend, she makes sure not to cross any boundaries with him, always remembering Brad is the one she chose, yet she constantly daydreams about life with Robert. After she and Brad take their annual vacation, with Robert and Crystal, his conceited cantankerous model girlfriend, Mary Ann learns that her real self is about to detonate. When a turn of events cast her into the arms of Robert, her mystery of a life with the man of her fantasies, is about to become real. Now she wonders if she really wants to change the past or stay with a love with Brad that has blossomed into almost perfection.
Brad and Robert are the best of friends. They each share a special closeness with Mary Ann; unfortunately only one will end up actually capturing the essence of her heart. Robert dates a picky model by the name of Crystal, but as yet he has not asked her to marry him. She is the type of person who is afraid to have too much food on her plate and always makes sure she is dressed her best, always ready for any photo shoot. Brad, Robert, Mary Ann, and Crystal remain close as always, continuing on with their special annual trips they take, until one day something radically changes for the friends.
What started out as a vacation for the foursome ended up in a whole different discovery for Mary Ann when she suddenly finds she is married to the very complicated Robert Monroe. Just a simple walk along the cliffs erupted into a blackout having her awake to learn she is Robert’s wife and she has a child. Never understanding the enigma that surrounded him, she begins to see him through her eyes as everything suddenly unfolds to her understanding. In no time, her own self-discovery of friendship, relationships and being a mother emerge, along with her sensual side.
Mary Ann never knew her spirit could be so fun and carefree. Now she must decipher which is the most important one in her life, the one who offers the complete independence that she has always enjoyed, or the one that offers a sort of control that she feels she may not like. With Brad, she never had that overwhelming feeling she had to always please him, whereas with Robert, she learns she may always be on an emotional roller coaster, wondering if she is really giving him all the pleasure he requests of her. Brad has always been the kind who would do anything for her, just so she would be happy. Now she must choose wisely after being in the arms of both men. Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side, and Mary Ann is about to discover the true meaning of love and one’s true self.
A Walk On the Cliffs is like a leisurely walk along the beach; it promotes a calmness to the soul and leaves one pondering what if. Mary Ann is a loving person who isn’t quite certain if the choice she made in life is one she is willing to make a lifetime commitment to, yet she loves Brad. The theme with the characters is basically Brad is steady, grounded, whereas Robert has an exciting mystery about him that seems to draw her in like a magnet. Each are somewhat intriguing with their own characteristics that keep the reader wondering the outcome.
Margo Reasner creates an out of the ordinary tale about four people different in many ways, and Crystal certainly reminded me of some of the stuffy type girls who chose to be models. In this comfortable story, Ms. Reasner brings to life many facets and emotions that touch upon not only Mary Ann, but others who have often been in the same situation of being with one person, yet in love with another. She instills thoughts, self-discovery and a journey for answers until learning the real reason for living. A Walk On the Cliffs, certainly leaves one with considering choices and can be found at iuniverse.com/ where the journey begins.
Sincerely good reading,
Linda
