Lena Marie Silverstone wants the best for Morris, the foster father, who wanted her to have the best life, had to offer. She decided to study the past life and become a historian. Now she would like for Morris to do something for her. The area he lives is not safe so she urges him to move into her apartment. Always overly suspicious, he cannot do such since he feels the acute eye of the government will watch him. She loves him and tries to understand his motives until she notices an impetuous transformation in him when he changes his mind about moving in with her. She wonders what suddenly altered a change in conduct.
Lena is a very devoted historian who loves Morris but someone wants them both dead. After Morris accepts her offer and moves in with her, she suspects that it is not her foster father at all but a clone, which means one thing and that, her life is now in much peril. She finds herself hoisted in a chaotic misfortune as she hurries to save the man who was there for her as a child. After she is thrown into prison, she is rescued but in no time finds herself captured once more and imprisoned again. One good thing may come out of the situation when she finds herself falling in love with the jailer, unfortunately he believes that she is her clone and now Lena has to find a way to prove that she is authentic in every way.
Dax has been by himself for a long time. After his father accepted Lena and her brother, Nigel into their home, he took offense. They were found on the streets after their father’s murder and Dax’s father came to their rescue. Now Dax is falling for the lovely Lena but when she becomes captive the rebel leader has to turn to her brother for help. Nigel refuses any assistance to their cause until Lena is safe. Dax has to find a way to bring Lena to safety, that is, if she is the real person and not a substitute.
Dax knew he had his life before him and Lena and Nigel were just kids when his father brought them into their home to live but still he should not have held such high resentment. Now that Nigel had been used to grab Lena’s DNA, Dax must find a way to help Lena escape. Too many others are being killed and changed and he does not wish that to happen to Lena. Somehow he has to help them both. Nigel is no rebel, but he is academic and has taken care of Lena after their real father was killed and their mother grew sick. Dax will not rest until he has found a way to help both of them out of the tricky situation. Dax is at a crossroads when Lena learns he has dragged Nigel into the middle of events. He finds her greatly angered with his conduct, and informs her that she, too, had a hand in pulling in her brother. Dax will stop at nothing to make sure that Lena is herself and safe. After he hands her over to Nigel, he wonders will the two of them leave and he never be able to see his lovely Lena again.
Lena cannot believe the rumors she continues to hear. There is no way that clones are replacing people. After her foster father becomes a different man in all his reasonings, she considers the rumors true. Perhaps she had been too hasty in dismissing all the gossip. She turns to her older brother, Nigel, who discards anything she mentions. He is a tech inside the genetics lab and assures her she need not worry. The only brother who could have offered her any form of assurance dismisses her words. Nigel has no idea that when he pulled her DNA it would be used against her and now it is too late. He had been an unwilling participant caught in a web of deceit. Lena needs someone to desperately know she is real and Nigel does, but Dax has a confession for her that sends her spinning.
Every corner Lean turns she begins to feel as if the government really is watching her ready to strike and arrest her on any trumped up charge. She soon finds herself facing the executioner sent to completely silence her and when she is imprisoned in a cold cell being forced to take drugs, it gives her a feeling of being incarcerated in a mental ward. There is only one hope of salvation for her and he is the rebel they call Dax. Not only is he handsome but Lena wonders if perhaps, he, too, is a clone. Everyone is rapidly becoming a facsimile of themselves so it is getting harder to judge the actual person. No one wants to be imperfect anymore and Lena and Dax must find a way to stop the mutinous people from doing anymore harm as they find a way to become free while searching for survivors.
Armageddon is a thought-provoking story. To live in a place where only perfection is sought with no concern of a person’s size, appearance or how they act is almost like living in a land with no freedom. This story leaves the reader wondering what if something like this was to take form. Ms. O’Connor creates a wonderful class of rebels that are ready to stand for what they believe as they go against a government that has turned base. She gives Lena her own characteristics as she matures throughout the story and becomes strong in all her actions. The way that Lena, Dax, and Nigel have to search their feelings and risk what they give credence to really enhances the story. Armageddon blends romance, energy and conflict into this read. Ms. O’Connor pens believability in the characters and makes Lena and Dax a couple meant to be together. This is my first book by Ms. O’Connor and it promises not to be my last. Don’t miss this fantastic read, pick up your copy today at www.newconceptspublishing.com and take a spin with Lena and Dax.
