The Year of Our Lord, 1548 Fog swirled around the dark, shadowy figure standing beneath the lamplight, his eyes fixed on the building across the street, St. Agnes Orphanage for Boys and Girls. They'd brought the girl child here and left. They didn't know who she was, what she was capable of doing. They assumed she was a child like any other, they were wrong. He'd felt her power when she'd used the fireball to try and save her parents from him, however, being so young, her skill wasn't developed and as a result merely singed him. She would pay for that, but not yet, first she had to grow up if she was to be of any use to him. He'd leave her alone for now and watch her, and when the time came…well… The figure backed away, the fog enveloping him and disappeared. The tiny withdrawn face watching from the window across the street, hardened. Eyes turned red with fury, "You will never get me vampire, but I will get you," whispered a tiny voice. The tiny face withdrew from the window and walked slowly to the bed that was pushed against the wall. Raelynn Yakomura lay down and before sleep overtook her tired body, she promised vengeance on the vampire who'd taken her parents from her. The figure returned the next night and raged. She was no longer there; she'd been spirited away while he slept. But he would find her again and then… Present Day Justin landed behind the mausoleum and listened. There it was again, the grunting and groaning of a couple in the throes of passion, he thought. He smiled at the surprise they'd get when he revealed himself. He stepped into view, shocked at the sight before his eyes. What he'd thought was a couple having sex in the cemetery was actually a battle between a dark figure and a vampire; the very one he'd been tracking for days. What amazed him was the unknown figure was winning. The figure was graceful in his attack, like a ballerina, dancing a choreographed scene, his kicks high connecting with his opponent's face more than once. He was dressed in the black garments of a Ninja from head to toe and wielded his sword like the Ninjas he'd encountered many centuries ago. An opening came and the sword whistled in the night, severing the vampire's head from his shoulders. The dark figure sheathed the sword on his back, pulled out a Sai from his Tabi boot and carved the vampire's heart out. He carried the still pulsating heart to the nearest headstone, pulled out a small vial, and poured its content over it. Smoke arose as the heart burned and turned black before becoming only ash. Then a soft whisper was heard, "You were not the One I seek. "Suddenly, the figure whirled at the same time Justin felt a sharp pain. He looked down, surprised to see a shuriken, a throwing star embedded in his shoulder. He looked up into the eyes of the dark figure, clear blue eyes, female eyes. She stood in a Shizen natural stance, feet shoulder width apart, knees unlocked and arms relaxed, waiting for Justin to make his move. Justin slowly raised his hand and pulled the shuriken out. Blood immediately gushed from the wound but he didn't stop it. He scanned her mind but it was blank, he could not penetrate it. It astounded him that her mind was so disciplined and he could not get pass her shields. He looked at the finely made shuriken then sent it sailing towards her. She raised a hand and deftly caught it in her padded glove to avoid being cut, and returned it to its place on her belt. She bowed slightly, and then a loud pop sounded, smoke enveloped her. When the smoke cleared she was gone and Justin had no idea who she was or where she went, for he could not detect her anywhere.
