Interview With Vivian Hart:

Welcome to Romance at Heart’s grilling of the author. I am glad that you could take the time to answer our questions.

- Please tell us about your latest book.

My most recent release is The Completeness of Celia Flynn (Tarot: Hanged Man) from eXtasy Books. Set in Ireland during the First World War, it’s the story about a pretty young Irishwoman who’s in love with her three childhood friends, Robert, Freddie and Patrick. When she first discovers her unconventional feelings, she runs away from them. But later, as the war begins to end and her three men begin to return from the Front, Celia, who realizes her grave mistake, vows that if they still love her, she will honor that love, no matter the opposition.

- What can we expect from you in the future?

I have an erotic romance under consideration at Red Sage for their “Secrets” anthology. The novella is a shapeshifter tale, again, set in the Edwardian period, about a young Englishwoman, Serena Blakely, who journeys to Africa and falls in love with a man who is also a lion. Aubrey Darnell, also English, had fled from England when his fiancé was killed in a carriage accident. He has never before expressed his grief, and finds healing love in Serena’s arms.

- How do we find out about you and your books?

I have a newsletter that comes out every month where I post excerpts, contests, and other fun tidbits. The address is: Vivian Hart newsletter and to suscribe: vivianhartnewsletter-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and my website: VivianHart.net . I’m also listed at Road to Romance in the author’s index, and my books are available at eXtasy Books, search for Vivian Hart.

- Why did you decide to write romance novels?

It wasn’t really a decision, per se. I always just naturally leaned toward this genre. I began writing my first romance at age 16. I love romance and feel that it offers both escape and enhancement for people’s lives, including my own.

- How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?

I would say all. Writing for me is cathartic, a way of translating my inner struggles and process creatively. I learned about love from the man in my life, and that has been the most profound experience of all. I wish to pay tribute to that love in everything I write.

- Fill in the blank favorites –

Dessert: Chocolate chip cookies. City: Venice, Italy (most romantic ever!). Season: Autumn. The leaves are so beautiful, the air is crisp and sunny, and the light changes. Type of hero: ruggedly handsome, sensitive, caring lover. Type of heroine: sweet, emotionally strong, caring, pretty

- What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?

Getting to be creative so much of the time. The flow of creativity through my souls and body makes me feel alive. I feel much closer to God when I’m writing.

- Any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

Yes. Just keep writing and improving your craft. Join a critique group and be open to suggestions. Read a lot. And build good vocabulary and grammar skills. These are important in any genre. But most important of all: write from your heart. Readers and editors both will know if you have and will respond. Also, writing, for you, will be much more satisfying. Even when you feel discouraged (and this feeling will come at times. It does for all writers,) just keep writing and communicating with other writers. It took me a long time to get published, but it did happen.

Thank You Vivian for taking this time from your busy schedule to spend with us here at Romance at Heart. I know we will all be waiting and watching to see what comes from your pen next.

Yours in good reading,
Rose!
