Interview with Author Stacy Deanne:
Hi Stacy. Thank you for doing this interview. I would like to welcome you to the Romance at Heart Interview and Author Grilling session. *bg* We are interested to find out as much about you as we possibly can, so lets get started...
- Please tell us about your latest book.
Gladly! I am so excited about this book! “Giving up the Ghost” is my fourth book and the first in my new series. It’s a crime/mystery and interracial romance novel centering on the two detectives and ex-lovers, Bree and Steven who appeared in my 2008 novel “Melody”. When Bree’s friend Cheyenne is savagely beaten, she jumps into the case. Things become more complicated because Bree is being stalked and she also falls head over heels for a man who knows more about Cheyenne’s case than he lets on. It has mystery, sex, seduction and some hot romance! This book sets the stage for the entire series and it is explosive!
- How do we find out about you and your books?

- How may readers contact you?
I have a contact page on my web site and they can email me through that. If they are on any of the social networks I’m on they can contact me there as well.
- Why did you decide to write romance novels?
I’ve always loved crime and mysteries mixed with romance. My favorite types of romance are romantic suspense, interracial and historical. Most of the romances I write are subplots to the mystery and crime which is the main part of the story. Interracial romance is a personal preference and always has been so writing it comes natural. Since I’m a big mystery buff, I’ve always enjoyed romantic suspense. I have to have a little danger with my romance, LOL. I write what I write because it’s true to who I am and I very much enjoy these genres. They’re also fun genres to play with!
- Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?
If I’m writing everyday and it’s flowing well it takes me at least 3-4 months. That’s minus editing and revisions that might have to be done of course.
- Where do your ideas come from?
I always say, “Straight from my twisted mind.” LOL! I get ideas from all types of places, reading, movies, current events, documentaries. And of course ideas come out of the blue too.
- What kind of research do you do?
Because I write crime fiction, I do a lot on police procedures, etc. I’ve been writing this genre so long that I know a lot by now. There’s always something new to learn when it comes to the law. I love writing about mental disabilities and split personalities, stuff like that. So I enjoy researching as much as I can. I also research different places. For example if I want a story to take place somewhere I am not familiar with, I will do extensive research on the people, economy, basic things about the place. The Internet puts a world of knowledge at your fingertips. I don’t see how writers from earlier generations went without it.
!
- Who, if anyone, has influenced your writing?
My biggest literary influence is Edgar Allan Poe for his dark mind and literary genius. Few writers and poets have spoken to me the way he has. I feel so much from his work. When it comes to suspense, overall Alfred Hitchcock is my biggest influence. I am always striving to strengthen my level to compare to his.
My biggest romance influences is Linda Howard. She mixes thriller into a lot of her books. I love Kay Hooper because of her crime and romantic suspense novels. Kay is my favorite romantic suspense novelist and she is the reason I started writing this genre.
Thanks so much for having me!
