Interview with Rae Monet:

Hi Rae, and welcome. Thank you for doing this interview. I would like to welcome you to the Romance at Heart Interview and Author Grilling session. *bg* We are interested to find out as much about you as we possibly can, so lets get started...

- Please tell us about your latest book.

My latest two books are Stolen Courage from Triskelion Publishing and Racing Hearts from Liquid Silver Books

- What can we expect from you in the future?

I’m moving the Solarians into the future… and look for book two and three of the FBI Romantic Suspense series. Check out my website for excerpts of my work, RaeMonet.com

- How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?

A lot, LOL.

- When did you first think about writing and what prompted you to submit your first ms?

About six years ago, I became serious about wanting other’s to read my work.

- Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?

It usually takes me 2-3 months to finish a book.

- What is your writing routine?

I write everyday 2-10 pages.

- Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?

I’m a go with the flow girl, LOL.

- Where do your ideas come from?

They just pop into my head and the strangest times and won’t leave, and yes… they talk to me.

- What are your thoughts on love scenes in romance novels, do you find them difficult to write?

I like to use the five senses when writing a love scene. When I use this technique it all seems to fall together.

- What kind of research do you do?

I extensively research my books. Most of what you see in my books, for example my historicals, are historically accurate with the fantasy elements weaved in. I use life experience for my romantic suspense.

- What does your husband think of your writing?

He shrugs. LOL

- Do you ever ask him/her for advice?

Oh yes, he’s my rock when I’m stuck he helps dig me out.

- What are some of your favorite things to do?

Read.

- Do you have a favorite author? Favorite book?

J.D. Robb series in death, all of them are fantastic.

- Who are some of your favorite authors?

CJ Barry, Susan Grant, Christine Feehan and Nora Roberts

- Are you a member of any author groups - RWA, critique groups, etc.?

I’m am a member of my local RWA

- How long have you been writing - have you always wanted to be a writer?

I’m been writing for so long I can’t remember. Maybe ten years.

- How many books have you written, how many have been published?

I have published five books:

Four with Liquid Silver Books
The Lost Wolf Warrior
The Solarian Raven
A Viking’s Vow
Racing Hearts

One with Triskelion Publishing
Stolen Courage

- After you've written your book and it's been published, do you ever buy it and read it?

I do buy it but try not to read it because then I’ll just want to change it.

- Among your own books, have you a favorite book? Favorite hero or heroine?

I think it would be Stolen Courage and FBI Agent Jo Clarin and NASCAR driver Troy Vinstonie, Jo is a tough woman and Troy a challenge to master. I love their interaction.

- What book for you has been the easiest to write? The hardest? The most fun?

The Lost Wolf Warrior might have been the easiest because it was in my head for so long.

- What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?

My readers saying they enjoy my books.

- Any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

Keep trying, don’t give up!!!
