Romance at Heart Magazine Author Interview: Michelle Larks

Interview With Michelle Larks:

Welcome to Romance at Heart’s grilling of the author. I am glad that you could take the time to answer our questions.

- Please tell us about your latest book.

My latest book is titled Crisis Mode, it was released in March of this year, and it contains four short stories about everyday women facing dilemmas, or their worst waking nightmare.

- How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?

Friends who have known me for a long period of time, say reading my books is like having a conversations with me, they can see my character within the book. So I’d say a lot of my personality is evident. So far my first books are based on my life experiences. I am almost done editing my 3rd manuscript. My fourth book will be more so my imagination instead of my experience. Crisis Mode was mostly imagination also.

- Generally how long does it take you to finish a manuscript?

I can complete the first draft of a manuscript within a 3-4 month timeframe.

- What does your husband/wife think of your writing?

My husband has been very supportive and encouraging as far as my writing career has been concerned. He travels along with me to book tours and assists at book signings. We just out of the newlywed stage celebrating our 2nd anniversary in August.

- Do you ever ask him/her for advice?

I ask my husband for advice to about the credibility of a scene, if it’s believable or not.

- Please tell us about yourself (family, hobbies, education, etc.)

I’m in my late forties. I attended the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus. I have two adult daughters. I love watching and attending basketball and football games. My favorite hobby is reading and critiquing books at my monthly book club meetings. I have been employed as an IT professional for over twenty years in the data processing industry.

- Where do you see yourself in five years?

I hope to be out of the corporate rat race, in a house by a lake churning out best selling novels.

- How long have you been writing – have you always wanted to be a writer?

I’ve been writing a little under two years. I never had writing aspirations, although I’ve written in some form over the years.

- How many books have your written, how many have been published?

I’ve written two books that have been published and hope the third one will be published next year.

- What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?

The most rewarding thing about for me as a writer, is when someone understands my storyline and really gets it! I try to write stories that will generate discussions and possibility help coping with a problem in the process.
