Interview with *lizzie starr:

Hi *lizzie and welcome to Romancea at Heart. Wings e-Press has a wonderful list of authors, and they are fortunate that yo are on their list. Thanks for answering the questions posed to you, and taking part in the "grilling of the author!"

- What can we expect from you in the future?

**I’m continuing the Tales of the Double Keltic Triad (The third book, Keltic Flight will be released November 2003). I’ve also plans for some romantic suspense, and of course there are any number of fantasy tales that clamor to be written. The world of romance won’t be rid of *lizzie starr for some time yet.

- How do we find out about you and your books?

**I’m currently with two e publishers.

I currently have four novels with http://www.wings-press.com and a short story in an anthology at http://www.novelbooksinc.com. The best way to find out about my books is to visit the publisher’s site.Wings e-Press

I’ve got a website in progress, but I’d rather write stories than html code, so the site isn’t up to viewing standards yet. However, if readers would like a heads up to the opening of my site, or information on the up and coming from *lizzie starr, they can email me at starrauthor@hotmail.com

- Why did you decide to write romance novels?

**I started writing straight fantasy, being influenced mainly by Tolkien in high school and college. My mom read romance--a lot of romance. And, as any typical teenager, I wouldn’t be caught dead reading the same stuff. Yuck! Then, when I worked night shift in a nursing home, there was limited reading material in the small library. I discovered romance. Then--I discovered futuristic romance. Well, needless to say, I was more than hooked. What could be better than combining the woo-woo elements I so enjoyed, with happy-ever-after romance? It wasn’t until after I got divorced that I began to write seriously. And with the complete support and encouragement of my ex!

- How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?<>

**I think there is a bit of every writer within their characters. Perhaps we have some life concern that we need to work through, and our characters, while not going through exactly the same trauma, help us see ourselves. I’ve worked through infatuations, sorrow, depression, and happiness with the writing of my books. And each has left me further along in my personal growth. A good thing, no?

As a writer of woo-woo romance (woo-woo encompasses anything paranormal, fantastic or “spacey”. <g>) I also believe that many of my past lives and experiences have a startling amount of influence on my tales. Dancing the Stars is one of these past life tales. And no, I haven’t always been the heroine in these lifetimes.

- What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries?

**Gee, as an author what do I do to relax? I read. Besides that, I enjoy crafting. I’m currently into making porcelain dolls. I’ve created a number that represent characters from my books. It’s a great way to keep the other ladies in doll class entertained. They never know what I might come up with next! I also love movies, of all types, new and classic. Even though I’m a cook by profession, cooking and baking are also relaxing.

- Where do your ideas come from?

**An amazing number of places. I know many authors who start with plot. Or with character. My first book came to life when a friend had a large tattoo of a Celtic cross done on his thigh. I recently read a joke, and now, because of the punch line, a vampyre tale is simmering on the back burner. The short story I have in an anthology came from a line from a Coolio song that I thought would make a great title. (Lying in Chalk)

I love collecting possible titles. Maybe someone will say something that strikes a cord. Dancing the Stars began with writing exercises where we were given a list of words that had to be used in the story. Most of my tales do seem to simmer for quite a bit before I sit to write them down, so sometimes the true first idea does change a bit. Look around you, there are ideas numbering more than the stars just waiting for the right author to discover them!

- Would you like to write a different genre than you do now, or sub-genre?

**While writing woo-woo romance will always be my first love, I enjoy the challenge of expanding into other realms. In fact, July 2003 will see the release of a romantic suspense--Birds Do It--from Wings ePress. There’s only one, tiny fantasy element in this book that I challenge my readers to find. But, soon, characters from Birds will have interactions with those from the Double Keltic Triad tales. I find it exciting to interweave the different types of books. It’s a challenge to make logical connections between what we consider the “real world” and my Fay Otherworlds.

- After you've written your book and it's been published, do you ever buy it and read it?

Oh, I love this. Sometimes I have to go back to a book to double check something about a character. And I almost always get caught up in reading the book. I think to myself, this is really good. Then, I remember I wrote it. Amazing. Of course, I continue to learn and hone my craft, so then I want to go back and do some rewriting and editing. That’s probably true of most authors.

- Among your own books, have you a favorite book? Favorite hero or heroine?

**Can I say all my books are favorites but for different reasons? No? Well then I think at this point in time, Dancing the Stars truly is my favorite book. But, the hero who continues to be with me is Kierigh from Double Moon Destiny. Although, if you happen to trust my past life theory, he and Niallan hold the same soul.

- Any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

**I enjoy sprinkling my conversations, and life, with lines from movies. The following, from Galaxy Quest is a favorite. And definitely encouragement for anyone--in any adventure.
Never give up. Never surrender.

Thank You, *lizzie. We shall be looking forward to more wonderful tales from you, whether paranormal or futuristic!

Yours in good reading,
Rose!
