Interview with Linda Lattimer:

Hi Linda. Thank you for doing this interview for us here at the magazine. I would like to welcome you to the Romance at Heart Interview and Author Grilling session. *bg* We are interested to find out as much about you as we possibly can, so lets get started...

- Please tell us about your latest book.

My latest book is Cheyenne and her Prince Charming and it is with Tree Press and can be found at www.treepress.net. It is a story about a woman lawyer who lives in L.A. who tries to help women who find themselves in the middle of a divorce but have no immediate funds to obtain a good lawyer. Most of the women have been abused in some way and Cheyenne seeks to try to help the women in anyway she can in the meanwhile neglecting any happiness in life for herself, until a man comes to her office asking for her legal representation. This is new to her since she normally represents women but after hearing Trey’s devastating dilemma, she decides to take his case. Cheyenne finds herself caught in a situation involving her sister, who more or less has done what she wanted to in life, since their parent’s demise and Trey who could really use a friend. When you toss in Cheyenne’s wacky assistant Celeste, things are bound to stir inside the lawyer’s office.

- What can we expect from you in the future?

More and more writings, I hope. I get so lost in my thoughts that I am constantly spinning stories. Over the years, I have many that I have composed and saved on disks and now have started polishing them up.

- How do we find out about you and your books?

I have some websites that tell about my books and upcoming events. You can check them out and always send me an email and I will be glad to answer any question:

- Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?

Once I get an idea in my head and there are really no interruptions, it can be anywhere from two weeks to two months. It depends on the size of the manuscript, how much I pour into it from my heart, especially if it is a tearjerker. Sometimes I will get to working on a story and forget to take any breaks; my mind is absorbed in the process of creating the characters and their story.

- What is your writing routine once you start a book?

Wake up early, stay up late, grab some popcorn or diet coke and chain myself to the laptop until I am completely satisfied with the storyline.

- What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries?

I like to take short trips and see the mountains or lovely lakes and just unwind, but then my mind is usually developing stories in my head. Other times, watching the Food Network channel, or the old black and white movies that are classics in themselves, or spending time with the family.

- Where do your ideas come from?

I wish I knew. I can wake up and bingo I have one in my head. It might come from a dream, or just looking at the television for a second or even staring outside a window at a lovely bird or butterfly but I can see something or hear something and bingo it is inside my head and formed into a book in my heart. Ideas are always bouncing off me and I sit and think wow where did that come from?

- Please tell us about yourself (family, hobbies, education, etc.)

When I am not writing, I love to read, fish, camp, and see nature and all it has to offer and I delight in traveling and seeing beautiful places. My favorite spots have been the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Tombstone, Raymond Gary Lake, Savannah, GA, Savannah, TN and Nashville and New Orleans, just to name a few. Being a military brat, perhaps that is why I enjoy moving about. I have to admit living in Germany for two years was a great experience. I had to say goodbye to the love of my life on May 26, 2005 and things haven’t really been the same since. But I have three extraordinary daughters that keep me going and make life a bit more bearable.

- How many books have you written, how many have been published?

I have 5 that are published at this moment and more scheduled to be released. One more with Tree Press, three more with Wings, in fact, one of the three I share with one of my daughters. Another one with By Grace, two more with Whiskey Creek Press, plus I will have short stories in three of their upcoming anthologies. I have a list of my books and my upcoming releases on my website.

- If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?

Probably spending all my time reading, another great past time that I have always enjoyed.

- Are there any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

Whatever you do in life, continue to have perseverance and just never give up. It is not always easy to get a rejection letter from anyone but just knowing you are doing something that really makes you happy is the best gift in life, it is priceless.

Thank you very much for taking the time with us and answering our questions. I really appreciate this interruption to your busy schedule. Good Luck, and we will be looking forward to the next delightful creation from your talented imagination!

Yours in good reading,
Rose!
