Interview with Author Iona Blair:

Hi Iona. Thank you for doing this interview. I would like to welcome you to the Romance at Heart Interview and Author Grilling session. *bg* We are interested to find out as much about you as we possibly can, so lets get started...

Thank you for inviting me to Romance at Heart. It's a pleasure to be here.

- Please tell us about your latest book.

It's titled The Red Velvet Horse. The star attraction at a brothel, unspeakable acts––so depraved they were illegal––were performed on its back. It begins with the discovery of an erotic manuscript, written by a nineteenth century English woman, and quickly catapults a very modern heroine into a maelstrom of sexual experimentation and forbidden love.

April Ingram is the proprietor of Village Antiques, which she runs with her business partner and lover Holt Schiller. One day she finds an old manuscript hidden in a secret compartment of an antique cabinet. It is the erotic story of Hannah Wilks, a young English woman who lived more than a century before.

Hannah has been recently widowed. Almost destitute she ends up working in a dockside brothel to support herself. It is here that she is introduced to the joys and perversions of the Red Velvet Horse.

April is entranced by Hannah's story and becomes increasingly drawn into her world. She is fascinated by her sexual exploits and feels compelled to act them out with explosive results.

- What can we expect from you in the future?

Probably more along the same lines. I'm fascinated by that whole concept of the past popping up and influencing the present. I've featured it in Erotic Obsession also, and in Cassolette. Both novels received good reviews and are posted on my site: www.ionablair.blogspot.com.

In Erotic Obsession the story centres around a shockingly erotic photograph. When Jay finds it concealed in the attic wall, he becomes obsessed with the image of the woman in it. She is a seductive femme fatale named Emma, who lived in his secluded island home over a hundred years ago.

When he discovers her diary some time later, with it's steamy account of her sexual adventures, it leads him into an intensely exciting world of fantasy and taboo. With the help of a pretty prostitute from an escort agency, Jay re-enacts the forbidden pleasures described by Emma, with explosive results.

Then he meets Emma's great, great granddaughter, a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to the seductress who has so completely captured his soul. As the erotically haunted couple explore their white-hot sexuality together, they enter into a wildly sensuous world that spins dangerously between the past and present. This book has scenes of spankings, birching, caning, voyeurism & F/F interaction and is not for the faint-hearted!

Cassolette, a French term signifying the scent of a woman's arousal, is the one thing Jaye wishes her lovers to remember about her. When she inherits property on Bell Island off the coast of Canada, Jaye wonders what waits for her there, and is not disappointed in her choice of suitors.

The legacy of a lost treasure is also hers to discover, though recovering the gold is costly...and controversial. Some locals say it exists, while others believe a search would be a folly, and do possible damage to the environment. Intrigued by the mystery, Jaye goes forward with a search, fueled by passion and determined to keep the ghosts of Bell Island at bay, particularly the one who waits outside her home.

Cassolette is available from: PHAZE PUBLICATIONS

- How do we find out about you and your books?

Visit my site at www.ionablair.blogspot.com.

- How may readers contact you?

Feedback from readers is always welcome. I can be reached at ionablairnovels@gmail.com.

- Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?

Usually several months.

- What is your writing routine once you start a book?

I write for about six hours a day.

- What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries?

I like to take long walks. I also enjoy playing cards.

- Would you like to write a different genre than you do now, or sub-genre?

Not really. I think in romantic erotica I've found my niche.

- What are some of your favorite things to do?

Road trips with no definite destination. Exploring old lighthouses. Oh and retail therapy, of course. J

- How many books have you written, how many have been published?

I've written eleven novels and they've all been published. All are available except one, which is currently out of contract.

- Are you in control of your characters or do they control you?

They certainly influence me, and often lead the story away from what I'd originally planned. I view this as a plus, however, because it makes it more flexible and interesting to write.

- Are there any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

Don't give up. Keep on writing and submitting to publishers. It takes determination as well as talent to achieve your goals.

Thank you very much for taking the time with us and answering our questions. I really appreciate this interruption to your busy schedule. Good Luck, and we will be looking forward to the next delightful creation from your talented imagination!

Yours in good reading,
Rose!
