Interview with Eve Locke:
Hi . Thank you for doing this interview. I would like to welcome you to the Romance at Heart Interview and Author Grilling session. *bg* We are interested to find out as much about you as we possibly can, so lets get started...
- Please tell us about your latest book.
The latest book is still in the first 20,000 word area. This one so far has no title as I do with all my novels. I wait till the end to choose its award winning title. This story takes place in the islands, Bimini and some of the out islands, much lustful pleasures, some smuggling and some deaths, a Ebony colored girl self made madam lesbian but not the run of the mill madam, One of the characters (Cologne) is a classy little lady all well done Although I've never been to Bimini I'm doing as much research as possible through the net and the library.
Also I'm planning on flying myself there in the near future. All my novels are sensual and sexy, I use many four letter words, long sentences and sometimes paragraphs which are a page long, not the normal Literary rules way, but its my style. I believe in telling it as it is, as it happens so be prepared for some HOT sex and a delightful story!
- How do we find out about you and your books?
Just go to my site at www.evelockexxx.com or www.evelocke.com.
- Why did you decide to write romance novels?
Well now, romance is in the mind of the reader, to me romance is always heavy with much sex. All of my writing is from many experiences but much comes from discussion groups in Singles clubs. No matter what subject is discussed it always ends with a strong desire to hear about sexual desires, I've heard many stories mostly from women. And sadly enough sensual communication between lovers is lacking, shyness, religion, upbringing and just plain fear and lack of understanding (sexual experimenting) is responsible for many breakups, sad don't you think? If I'm at a party people just seem to want to tell me their troubles I have no idea why I'm their shoulder to cry on I guess, but I love having people have confidence in me and mostly total strangers.
- When did you first think about writing and what prompted you to submit your first ms?
About five years ago when I bought my first computer and then discovered WORD, boy I was like a kid in a candy store or like a Priest at an altar boys convention. Before the computer I couldn't read my own writing but I could tell stories. Submitting my first ms was thrilling I had to hear from some professional about my talents. Some fools laughed, some suggested I buy their writing program for 600 Bucks, yeah right, but there were some who thought I actually have some talent so don't give up and I didn't, it was good advise I have many fine reviews on Amazon and a few real Literary pros. But no matter, I have two publishers and every once in a while another shows some interest.
- Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?
Its all according if I'm not working for money and I have extra time usually about six to eight months.
- What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries?
Fly my airplane, lay on the beach.
- What truly motivates you in general? In your writing?
Ambition, ideas seeing different places and meeting people.
- Where do your ideas come from?
Experience and a huge imagination.
- Do you feel humour is important in women's fiction and why?
Yes, it comforts a person besides getting a woman to laugh and keeping her at least giggling and before you know it she'll laugh herself right into bed. Mom’s advise.
- What are some of your favorite things to do?
My favorite things are Flirting, beach combing, flying my airplane, and of course my rubber doll.
- What do you think of critique groups in general?
Not much but if they love my books well than I'll love them, if not than who cares. I listen to the critics but I don't make any changes, its like changing your style. Some are influenced by education or religion or upbringing besides who said they know more than I do about what I write. I believe in me.
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hollywood, I'm laughing again. Who knows, If I get through the day without drawing my own blood well than I've had a successful day, I take a day at a time.
- How long have you been writing - have you always wanted to be a writer?
About six years. No never had the desire until out of the blue my characters decide they had to have a story.
- How many books have you written, how many have been published?
Five written, four published and another I'm writing now. Birth of a Lesbian, Demise of a Lady, The Lesbian, Her Virgin, and Okracoke Island, The Hooker and The Nun and An Asian Bi Girl and her Douche Dick, Sadness, a River, and a Black Slut.
- Among your own books, have you a favorite book? Favorite hero or heroine?
All of them, but than I’m prejudiced.
- What book for you has been the easiest to write? The hardest? The most fun?
None were really hard, but all consumed a lot of time. I loved writing them all. So I just cannot pick just one.
- Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
Well now this is where my style differs, you see I believe in being different, suspense even in sexually explicit novels keeps a person turning the pages. So the story comes first for me.
- What is the hardest part of writing/the easiest for you?
Trying not to get boring. The easiest watching my characters come alive.
- Are you in control of your characters or do they control you?
I’m always in control. I could not let them loose on the world!
- Have you experienced writer's block---> If so, how did you work through it?
Not really but if concentration slows I just call it a day and pester my rubber doll.
- What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?
Being recognized as a writer. Especially by friends and acquaintances. Of course they all want free books.
- What question would you love to answer that I didn't ask?
Are you single and available? I’m laughing again.
Thank you very much for taking the time with us and answering our questions Eve. I really appreciate this interruption to your busy schedule. Good Luck, and we will be looking forward to the next sexy and delightfully erotic creation from your talented and vivid imagination!
Yours in good reading,
Rose!
