Meet:

Romona Hilliger

My husband and I lived the first twenty years of our married life in the Northern Territory of Australia where his job took us on frequent travels across the Outback. A source of amazement and downright awe for us both, we still take those trips on our annual holiday as well.

Wind-crafted outcrops of granite and sandstone, vast ochre plains stretching to eternity, merging with cobalt blue skies and the bush teeming with wildlife exclusive to Australia. These things triggered the inspiration for writing a series of travel articles with photographs for a magazine, and then, I realized what better backdrop than this sun-drenched wilderness for conjuring up romances of unique blend, stories of love up against impossible odds. I undertook studies in professional writing, specializing in Romance, and set to work.

Writing fulfils my most cherished dream, to breathe life, love and emotion into the people created in my imagination.

I started out in life as a primary school teacher but later, changed my career path and eventually, found myself engaged in the management and preparation of the payroll for one of Australia’s largest retail companies. This gave me the experience I needed to help manage the business side of a tourist motel, restaurant and café complex in Tasmania that we bought two years ago.

I have two grown up daughters and with my husband, life has been an expression of love and caring. With my first book published by Romance At Heart, I am honoured and look forward to the future with great anticipation.

My interests:
· Traveling the Outback of Australia by 4X4 with my husband, fossicking for gemstones and gold and following in the tracks of explorers.
· Actively engaging myself in WRITING RIGHT an online support group for writers.
· Involvement in animal welfare. Both domestic and wildlife. A rewarding task is to encourage wildlife off roads, even a snake at one time (very cautiously of course) as he thought he’d stretch out enjoying the sun.
