I grew up in Germany in a small coal mining village near the French border. My father was a general practitioner, specializing in obstetrics, the only doctor for a ten mile radius. Mom helped him and that often left my older sister and me to fend for ourselves. It makes you grow up fast. When my father suddenly passed away right after my thirteenth birthday my life changed drastically. We had to vacate the house I grew up in within six weeks, because in socialized medicine a doctor had to live in an approved house, though these days they are more lenient. My sister and I were appointed a guardian and thanks to him we moved to my mother’s hometown of Heidelberg on the Neckar. I never grew tired of looking at the castle up on the hill, when I crossed the bridge on my way to school.
I stood in the aisle of the moving shuttle, waiting patiently for him to remove his travel bag from the only seat still available. Don’t ask what dark thoughts went through my mind. When he finally looked up from his New York Times paper, he fell all over himself to make room for me. And then he chattered non-stop in English. I didn’t understand a word, but politely nodded my head. He told me later that he fell in love with me right then. He went on to Korfu that night, while Mom and I stayed on in Athens. He told his guide that he just met the girl he would marry. After a yearlong long-distance courtship that was at times hilarious, because I knew so little English, I came to visit him in Florida. I’ve been here ever since and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Mitch is the wind beneath my wings, my hero, and my soul mate. We have two grown sons and two grandchildren, Alex and Anna. Talk about destiny. We are still amazed to this day that we found each other across the miles like that and how much we are still in love. I never felt the urge to write until after our sons were both in college. I started Bewitching Angel on a dare and have since written sixteen full lengths novels. I play league tennis three times a week. I am a passionate reader and enjoy traveling with my husband and our Springer Spaniel Bibi. I’m told I am a good cook and baker, but eating out is even better. Author's Site - www. heidekatros.com
