Meet:
Deborah Boyer |
Deborah Boyer began writing to entertain at 14, when a teacher suggested her homework essay be submitted to the school paper. Entitled 'Make-Up Madness', it targeted such travesties as blue eyeshadow and earned her a regular humor column. Decades later, Deb's fiction muse threw a tantrum, sulking through every facet of consciousness, screaming for more satisfaction than an occasional poem. Then her husband joined the revolt, insisting when it comes to sex, intimacy and commitment, she may actually have something to say. One morning in 1999, she finally braved the unfounded fear welded to her rusty creative muscles, and pounded out a truly terrible short story -- from that moment on, she has never looked back. These days, with voices in her head lining up for escape, she writes and relishes life's every minute in the heart of Central Pennsylvania. Visit Deb's site to read some of her poetry and humorous features, including 'Make-Up Madness', the 1976 column that started everything. More about Deborah Boyer...
